EDMONTON, Alberta - About 500 soldiers from the First Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (1PPCLI) deployed to the Minnesota National Guard Training Facility, Camp Ripley, Minn., from April 15 to 29, 2004 to conduct urban warfare and patrol training as part of their regular training program.

Exercise SOUTHERN PATRICIA, both physically and mentally demanding, focussed on offensive urban operations and dismounted (on foot) patrol training.

Company Level Training
Soldiers conducted company level (about 120 soldiers) offensive, close-quarter urban warfare training in a simulated village. To enhance the realism and simulate force-on-force, the soldiers used Simunition®, a form of paint ball bullets in their personal weapons, and soldiers role-played enemy forces.

Patrol Training
The patrol training included a 15-kilometre foot patrol and a raid on a simulated enemy site. Soldiers also conducted day and night navigation training with an enemy presence under difficult conditions, using a compass and global positioning system.

Soldiers completed obstacle courses including a rappel tower to build confidence and cohesion.

Training Preparations
To prepare for this intense training, soldiers conducted refresher training aimed to familiarize them with close-quarter shooting and personal weapons tests, as well as theoretical and practical training for warfare in an urban environment.

Camp Ripley
Camp Ripley, located north of Little Falls, Minn., is a modern training facility that offers a state of the art indoor live fire facility, military operations in urban terrain site and about 20,640 hectares for manoeuvre.

yeah they both tend to fade pretty badly, I got a set of both and the Marpats tend to fade a bit faster due to the material...

Cool photos the vest is made of Cordura so wouldn't fade so fast.

No point using Elcans when using simulation ammo.

I see one guy is wearing the US issue kneepads???

GO CANADA!!!

the upper recievers are 9mm for simunition so we don't bother taking the sights off and losing the zero and we buy alot of our own kit
