In searching the internet for reliable technical specifications on the Forrestal, I've come upon a discrepancy in facts. Listed below are some of the major sources I turned up in a Google search, and none of them are in exact agreement on the length and displacement of the vessel. Does anyone here know the true dimensions of the ship, and where I can find the most reliable information on ship dimensions?

Those numbers are probably taking at different periods of her life. No doubt that at the start she would have been considerably lighter then the weight she displaced at her decommissioning.

That length is overall, (ie;flightdeck end to end) Hull Length is 990'

The flight deck has likely gone through several permutations in the Vessels career.

After you add up everything you will have to add some more weight for the Ghosts........since they are always there.
