A new era in Australian airborne surveillance was launched today with the first flight of the Royal Australian Air Force's new "Wedgetail" Airborne Early Warning and Control aircraft.

Anyone have specs on this thing? ...and what are those protruding white pieces at the crest of the plane?

What's the base aircraft? 737-700? 800 maybe?

And I believe many of the protrusions are communications and weather antennae.

I think those white bits are VHF/UHF blade antenna and what looks like satcom stuff
