hi
for about a year now I've been seeing photos of USMC in Afghanistan and Iraq wearing overalls instead of the usual MARPAT. following pics will show an example:

even some don't wear cover cammo, barren kevlar on their heads. though in combat zones the dressing rules aint so strict I couldn't find any logical reasons for wearing overalls instead of 2piece uniform. imagine going for number 2!
when wounded in field corpsman can't reach the wound as easy. in hospital they just cut it open no matter what kind of uniform it is. but if the wounded doesn't need medivac - stays in field - cut open overalls won't do much good.
maybe the units in question are of different specialty than the "regular" USMC.
any info would be appreciated. ty
oh, and I call them overalls in lack of better name

btw. the photos are from this album found while searching the net.

Those are flight suits which are flame rertardant.
They are worn as another form of protection form IEDs.

Just like Murmelmann states, flight suits are fire resistant and offer much better protection than cammies.

There are also the new FROG suits, but they are two piece like the cammies and depending on the unit, you still have to blouse them.

Flight suits are more comfortable, breath better, you don't have a belt around your waist, you don't have blousing issues, look better, and being one piece are simply more convenient. Key word here being comfortable.

FROG suits are gay, nobody likes them. But now that some fobbit general aboard Al Asad doesn't like seeing non-aircrew Marines wearing flight suits, everybody is back in cammies/FROG suits. Nowadays, the only Marines you'll see wearing flight suits are Force Recon/Recon, MARSOC, ANGLICO, aircrew, and tank crewman.

I supposed they were flight suits. still, the sole fire protection wouldn't be a large enough argument to cook my cojones inside. and dont they have (dont believe they're issued) flame retardant "underware" - something like f1 drivers. or those t-shirts they wear under armor are "stay dry" only?
hm.. though Ive seen pics of troops wearing no shirts under the suits - they sure had a reason - in way of 40degC!
and whats with no cammo on cover?

well, I think I got my answers. will google "froggies" to see whats that all about. obviously my perception of an overall was wrong. Im more of layers/pieces kinda guy. though w/ "look better" Id disagree..lol. from behind everyone in overalls looks like he has a full diaper. but who gives a rats ass when u're comfortable, rite..?
thanx

more like 600th, it's driving me nuts seeing all the threads asking the same question over and over again about the flight suits, on this and other forums
next time this question is asked, we shouldnt even respond at all

We used flightsuits 90% of the time in Iraq. They're more comfortable over FROG cammies as the belt and the flak tend to rub your skin off. Plust flightsuits are easy to get into if you need to get dressed in a hurry.

They should create the flight suit with camo design on it instead of leaving it blank. Should use the same pixel camo of the MARPAT.
