View Full Version : Starship Troopers 2
The worst movie ever, I'm surprised, the 1st Starship Troopers was very entertaining, but the second one sucked a lot, I recommend not to watch it because there is nothing good except the naked girls

Great, Robert Anson gets to do a second post mortem logroll.
Naked chicks huh. At least it had one redeaming quality.
That first movie sucked beyond all ability to measure suck.
And Paul Verhoeven should be beaten until he apologizes for destroying a SF classic.

Couldn't have put it better myself.
You'd think in the future, the military would have better tactics than just charge at the bugs, and get clawed or eaten.. Y don't they just use the low level bombers, and bomb the crap out of them instead of sending waves and waves into close quarters. Denise Richards is hot however.

I asked that same question the first time I saw that movie.

The second one was a made-for-TV movie and was directed by another director.

I did my part by buying the movie.
Was it bad....yeah.
Was it THAT bad....no
Plus the main girl/chick who's suppose to be psychic is hot
The diaglouge is pretty corny though, but there's some nice gore effects.
It's like an episode of the outer limits more than it is a sequel to the first movie.
Listening to the commentary is really depressing, everyone just rags on how bad the movie is.

It was not made for TV, it was made for direct to DVD/Video.
It was directed by Phil Tippet, who did the special effects work on such films as Jurrasic Park.

In the original book, the MI used powered armor that could take a bullet. They used nerve gas hand grenades. Tac nuke rockets and nuclear demo to collapse tunnels. For a PDW they had flame throwers.
And that was the infantry.
If all else failed they backed off and "cracked" the planet. Assuming they didn't need to keep it. The movie was a bad bad joke.

The problem is that the book essentially explains while artillery, armor, and squad-level support weapons are missing: every soldier in the Mobile Infantry is an elite, walking tank. They wear a jetpack-mobile powered armor equipped with hand-held flamethrowers, a sort of guided rocket launcher with two barrels on your back (called a Y-rack), high-explosive "hand bombs," and to top it off, they're sometimes given a rocket launcher firing low-yield nukes.
If Verhoeven had stuck to the book's story, the movie would probably have been amazing. Unfortunately, he decided to make the Mobile Infantry into cannon fodder and to make their society look like a fascist regime reminiscent of Nazi Germany (right down to their uniforms). In the book, it's simply a society based around the ideal that if you have done nothing to serve the Federation, why should you be allowed to take part in its politics or vote?

Maybe someone should make a moive based on the Forever War. It is going to be an orgy.

The Forever War is a great book.
I'm just worried that they will do another hack job like ST.
Beter hope that orgy isn't in the latter chapters of the book.
