Caroline Kennedy, said she was throwing her hat in the ring to to become New York Senator, according to Governor David Paterson.

Mrs Clinton's seat in the New York Senate will become vacant when she becomes secretary of state in Barack Obama's administration.

"She told me she was interested in the position," said Mr Paterson, who is responsible for picking Mrs Clinton's temporary replacement.

The new senator would then face a special election in 2010.

The prospect of another member of America's legendary political family taking high office has excited many in New York.

Just because she was related to someone high ranking and famous, she gets a major position of power?

The prospect of another member of America's legendary political family taking high office has excited many in New York. The late Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan represented the State of New York for a quarter century from that seat. The fact that seat has become a revolving door launch pad for democrats with bigger political ambitions is unfortunate.

Yeah, Democratic royalty like Prescott, HW, and little Junior..

with that being said, I don't see her as a particularly good pick.

JFK's daughter is not running for Senate.

She wants to be appointed to the Senate by the Democrat governor of New York. There is no voting.

She could be a perfectly nice and qualified person. Who knows.

It's not like she's some hick imbecile from Alaska or some sh*t.

it still doesn't mean much , when they boost tuition, while lowering financial aid. she alone can't fix the mess (after all, there's a team of govt officials screwing up in many states).

Here at the names mentioned as possibly filling the vacant Senate seats:

Caroline Schlossberg (Kennedy)
Andrew Cuomo
Beau Biden
Jesse Jackson Jr.

I guess they're all nice people though. So they must be qualified. All nice people are qualified, no matter who their fathers are, right?

Oh and hey Jesse, before you go on tv talking about how you don't have much money you might want to consider removing the $1000 Burberry scarf.

I guess Caroline Kennedy has some qualifications.

See is a senior adviser for Harvard's political institute, director on the boards of the Commission on Presidential Debates and the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, graduated from Harvard and Columbia law school. She has books out on privacy rights and protecting the rights in the constitution. She worked as a senator's intern, on presidential candidate campaigns, a lawyer on the bar in D.C. and New York, worked as a director on the New York City Department of Education where she ran funding operations , and president of the Kennedy Library Foundation.

She wrote a bunch of other poetry books and worked as an editor too, but thats a different matter, but to say she is running on name recognition alone is ridiculous. She more qualified than most senators ever where when they started.

Thanks, As with many people, I am clueless about her. She seems qualified to me. As I mentioned once before she can not be worse than a lot of other elected officials. I am all for letting her stand on her own merits.

Wow look at all those great titles that could very well be received through favors, family connections, and name recognition.

Once the possibility of nepotism and dynastic appointments is opened, a person's whole career is subject to scrutiny. And with the Kennedy family, well they'd be at the top of the list.

I know of very few lawyers who pulled themselves up by their bootstraps who have time to write books on poetry.

I call bull****.
