OTTAWA (AFP) – Prime Minister Stephen Harper delivered a grim forecast for the Canadian economy, saying in an interview with broadcaster CTV a depression is possible.

"The truth is, I've never seen such uncertainty in terms of looking forward to the future," Harper told CTV. "I'm very worried about the Canadian economy."

Yes, because dion or jack could do better:roll:. Face it. No matter who is in power, recession is recession. Where we fail, the pm also seems to fails. Where we come out, the pm is a hero. Hoorah for politics. Not much you can do but wait it out.

Conservatives are supposed to lower taxes and spend less. Try doing this in a recession/depression. Big FAIL coming up.

I would rather have Mr Harper in charge than the three stooges...

but its good to see the Liberals and Conservatives trying to work together on a budget rather than taking shots at each other and having the threat of a coalition hanging over us so much.

also Canada is in better shape than just about any other G8 member so what ever happens out there should not impact us as much and we should recover faster too.

in theory...
in theory communism works too though...

There is a lot of reactionary stuff going on, not one person has any idea what is going to happen next year or for that matter over the next 3 years. Save money, not USD, decrease your debt and be smart. The states and Canada are going to come out on top of this thing.

The world's greatest leader standing on railroad tracks isn't going to stop a runaway train any better than the village idiot.

Once the train wreck carnage has stopped moving, leaders will be needed to perform effective triage on the survivors.

Wow, quite an unusual analogy. But apt.

Harper will pull us through. People have no faith anymore. We elected him (even as a minority) for a reason.

He has a much more level head then the retards of the coalition.

Actually, The Conservatives have been doing a much better job than the Liberals. It will depend an many factors, yes, but the main threat of economic downturn in Canada comes from the U.S. Should the "Big 3" Detroit automakers fail to get their bailout, for example, it could mean over 500,000 jobs will be lost in Canada alone if they happen to fold. This is an unavoidable disaster for any Canadian government.

The economy around the world is all over the place. The few exceptions are nations with centralized economies--like China. I would much rather have the Conservative Party in power then the big tax trio.

Let me clarify I was refering to the entire fiasco on Parliament Hill, not just the Harper. That said, I have not been generally pleased with Harper.
