I bought Firewall and I enjoyed it a lot. A no-bull****, realistic thriller. I'm thinking in buying the other books.

What do you think?

just passing on information

supposedly McNab was "exiled" from the SAS community for his book Bravo Two Zero

Well, as far as I know every ex-SAS guy that has written a book about the SAS has been "exiled", as such, from Regiment business, including General Sir Peter de la Billiere.

Firewall was a good read though I don't know about it being so realistic, but I don't really have all thay much experience with what happened and where it happened so maybe i'm wrong ... ;)

ive only read immediate action from mcnabb, non fiction, fun and informative, with brit humor and culture which is like damn near being "exotic" here in america. decent read. id like to read his wilder books sometime.

I'm a fan of the Nick Stone Series.

Some of the books can drag abit but they all have a wealth of information.
I believe Last Light was his slowest book (they are usually real page turners) but it had alot of Sniper techniques and tactics info.

Firewall was my favorite and I think this would make a really good Movie.
Maybe with Russel Crowe starring and Michael Mann Directing.
Incidently, McNab was one of the techincal advisors in Mann's crime film HEAT. He taught DeNiro and Kilmer how to ROCK those M4s.

Try reading his first Fiction book: Remote Control.
I remember picking up the paper back and was not able to put the book down. I read thru out the night and finished by morning.

Someone liked Crowe's performance in Proof of Life?

I don't think you guys saw the documentary called "The Real Bravo Two Zero" on the Discovery Channel, where a former SAS man retraced Chris Ryan's steps according to the book and he basically said virtually everything in the book regarding killing Iraqi soldiers was total fiction. He went into great detail interviewing people (Iraqi's), he even found the equipment and guns from the team which some Iraqi's still had, if you ever get chance watch it cos' I was a big fan of the book reading it 3 times in a row but after seeing the documentary I was well let down! Oh and Chris Ryan isn't his real name!

Of cause Andy and Ryan whacked a lot of fiction in their story - I don't give a toss, Andy writes decent thrillers and frankly those banging on about Bravo Two Zero in a negative light usually have a bug up their arse that they didn't have the gumption to make some serious cash from the literature world.

I tire of disillusioned 12 year old boys crying over broken hero’s.

And on that note "when in doubt empty your entire magazine".

you think wrong. I did, and read all the books about the patrol.
And we know they use Pseudonyms.

Like Mocking said, they did include a lot of fiction in their books. But they're good at writing fiction.

Guys I'm not trying to put Chris Ryan down or anything (christ he passed SAS selection!) but when I read the book I did think that it was a true account of the Bravo Two Zero mission and I didn't think he had added an fiction to it, I have read his other fiction books and they are good I just thought B2Z was true and so did alot of other people including former SAS men. Oh and to add mate i'm 36.

Great movie, the combat scenes are really well made.
For McNab's bokk i've only read B20 and even if it's not trues, is a coll history, i've enjoy it a lot.

I can really recommend Dark winter by McNab, It's back to the same style as "remote.." with that one, filled with action and not really that many slow spots. Last Light drag a bit as stated, with lots of time being spent at OP's etc., but hey - thats as real as it gets. try spending a few days looking at some slabs of concrete in the pouring rain in the middle of nowhere for a week and se how fun it is ;)

I'm wondering why Chris Ryans face was blanked on the Soldier 5 cover even though he isn't a secret anymore.

Maybe Mike Coburn hadn't got permission to not unblank his face?

I would have thought it just to be free domain, since they used the same picture in the opening credits of Hunting Chris Ryan.

I had no idea that B20 was part fiction. Is there any good old fashion written proof of this?
