SAUDI ARABIA: Picture released by an Islamist website 18 June 2004 shows American Paul Johnson's head placed on his back after he was beheaded in Saudi Arabia. The Islamist website showed Paul Johnson, the US national taken hostage by Al-Qaeda gunmen in Saudi Arabia, beheaded and his head then placed on his back. "Delivering on our promise, the mujahedeen from the Fallujah Squad slaughtered the American prisoner Paul Marshall Johnson after the ultimatum set by the mujahedeen to the tyrants of the Saudi government expired," said a statement posted on the website and signed by "Al-Qaeda in the Arabian peninula."
RIP Paul Johnson
Hopefully it was painless... :(
I have seen a lot of similar beheaded excutions and trust me, it wasn't painless. :(
Truly facked up. Once again, I am left speechless by the attrocities these savages are capable of. RIP, condolences to family.
Death to these miserable lowlife scumbags.

I chose this topic to be my first posting here because of how terrible these events are. Unfortunately, I've seen these videos before. Sometimes I wish I hadn't, but I now know that capture is not an option. Fight to the end. I wouldn't allow these people to use me as a way to get a message out loudly. It shakes me to my souls deepest reaches to imagine what it feels like to be on the recieving end. I wonder because it always seems the victims go fetal and offer no resistance. My plan is to make them kill me quickly- only if in that situation.
I am a pretty tolerant person, raised in the inner cities, and well travelled. In this case my feelings are simple. "F***" those heathen bastards. I wish that section of the globe was a glass parking lot.

I don't know about the FAMAS, but as for "more info"....
They aren't "riot police". Though both are part of the Ministry of the Interior, the Romanian Police (Poliţia Romāna) and the Romanian Gendarmerie (Jandarmeria Romāna) are two separate forces. Since its 1998 reorganization, the Jandarmeria is more focused on antiterrorism and national security issues, while the police remains mainly law enforcement. I would assume these people belong to the Jandarmeria's "Vlad Tepes" Special Intervention Brigade (Brigada Speciala de Interventie "Vlad Tepes").

This multinational exercise was held in France but from the pictures, it seems the Germans brought their own transportations (like the APC and the Bundesgrenzschutz Puma above). Maybe the Romanian were not allowed to bring their own weapons and they were issued French Famas only for this exercise. Or was it cross training? But anyway, I think this has nothing to do with a new issued assault rifle ;)

Nah, I think it's the same reason as it has been ever since fighting stopped, Brits don't wear helmets unless they need to, because it makes us look less threatening. In other words "we're bring peace to your country not war"

They're dressing as per the Threat Level - there's hardly anything going on in Haiti anymore, so no reason to wear helmets in hot weather
