I plan to go hiking in Israel next summer, and thought it would be fun to combine with a 1 or 2 week krav maga course (for civilians).

Since there are many MP.net members who know about such things, it seemed worth asking.

What Israeli krav maga schools would you recommend ?

If I was you, IŽd use my vacancy to explore this country and its people and not waste time and money on martial arts classes.
Meanwhile there are plenty of good quality Krav Maga Instructors worldwide. Find yourself some training facility near your home. No need to travel all the way to Israel, especially when most schools invite KM-Instructors from Israel to hold seminars from time to time anyway.

Thats just my 2cts.

I would love to take a course here, but there are so few krav maga classes in the arctic. Cheers!

However, peaking of my vacation...what do you recommend hiking?

Thanks and happy holidays!

I would strongly suggest and hiking trails in the Golan heights! Especially the Banyas! Its amazing up there. Reminded me of lord of the rings. In a scenic and epic sense lol.

i recommend hiking out into the Sinai desert. it's actually not a very long walk to egypt. so you could see that too. just bring a some water , it might take a few hours.
good luck , and have fun :).

If you insist, I recommend Itay Gil's club in Jerusalem. Here is the link to his site: http://www.protect-usa.com/
(enter Contact Us for address and telephone).

He is a real deal, but I'm not sure he does the teaching himself anymore.
You can find quite a few videos on youtube with him.

But consider, of course, other possibilities. There are a lot of places like this in Israel.

As already said, you should spend your time hiking in the country, rather than learning some martial art, there's so many 'schools' around here I don't think there's something official.. anyways, travel in the Golan, I love being there, also the Negev, and of course Jerusalem.. there's a lot of places to hike around here.

Thank you all for the advice.

visit the "Namal" to go clubbing on friday nights - if your naughty like me go to Pussy Cat - hottest strip club also located there - 20 shekels a lap dance!!

go to Abu Hassan for some of the best hommus you'll ever eat in Yaffo - also go to Akko (Acre) the arabs living there apparently sell the best hommus in Israel

go to Moses for awesome burgers

Air force museum

Japanika - good sushi

I also highly recommend going to Yad Vashem (its free too) as one of the best Holocaust museums I've ever visited. Besides its exhibits, it has some of the most spectacular architecture

How do you say "I want a lapdance"?

(Of course I will visit the clubs.....;), that's half the reason for going)

Hi guys, as there were a few tips on hiking and trekking, and I am spending 4 months in Israel in a Kibbutz ( I lost my job and travelling the world, at the momment in Brazil) Is there any websites you guys recommend for the hiking/trekking and camping in Israel? I will be in from June to September. I am checking in with the Kibbutz volunteer office in Tel Aviv.

There's a pretty extensive book on Krav Maga written by Imi Lichtenfeld himself. Reading it prior to the course wouldn't do any harm IMO (familiarization etc.).

I've been thinking about traveling to Israel to take a Krav Maga bootcamp too! I say if you want to take the Krav Maga course, then go for it!
