Primary effective role of SOF in Afghanistan

With quite few numbers of NATO troops in certain regions of Afghanistan and altogether the whole country, are member nations SOF being forced to be used altogether as infantry or combat oriented troops instead of a OMLT type role? Is this in regard with low troops capabilities seen by some countries such as say Spain/Germany who may not wish to have their troops in combat but a different story if their SOF operate or also as a push by some nations to give their SOF to see what they can achieve in their service in Afghanistan?
