Obama had to answer investigators' questions
By NEDRA PICKLER and BRETT J. BLACKLEDGE – 3 days ago
WASHINGTON (AP) — In the midst of two wars and an intensifying economic meltdown, Barack Obama had to take time off last week to answer questions from federal prosecutors investigating charges that the governor of Illinois had put the president-elect's former Senate seat up for sale.
With his own lawyer by his side, Obama sat down Thursday with U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald's staff to tell what, if anything, he knew about Gov. Rod Blagojevich's efforts to cash in on appointing Obama's Senate successor.
For Obama, swept into the presidency on a promise of new politics stripped of past corruption and scandal, the interview was a fascinating revelation in a report that, as promised, said neither he nor anyone on his transition team did anything wrong.
Prosecutors already have said Obama is not implicated in the case. And Obama has insisted that his aides did nothing inappropriate.
But the scandal clearly has had its impact on the man who only weeks earlier was rejoicing with a nation over his historic rise to the presidency.

Surprisingly, the news media forgot to cover this event. I guess you can't kill the king you crown.

That's an article from Associated Press. Last I checked they were part of the news media. It's also all over the papers as far away as Japan, and has popped up on internet news sites from Auckland to Dubai. So let's put to rest the persistent myth that somehow the news media won't cover any 'negative' stories about Obama.
In fact it always amazes me how people find stories in the media, link them on this forum (and other sites) and then everyone screams indignantly, "How come the damned Liberal Media hasn't run with this?", as though mp.net were the only place you could find it. Duuh...
Now if the media are not pursuing a sensationalist enough angle on this non-story to suit our fantasies of a Chicago Political Machine conspiracy, perhaps it is because after investigators found Obama had no connection to the alleged seat-buying, this particular 'scandal' is not as newsworthy as previously thought. Obama sells stories and there's only so many times his name can be slipped in just for the sake of grabbing headlines. Without it, this is just another boring corruption investigation.

Hey, I think I hear the Communist News Network calling your name..........
The Pew study singled out MSNBC for its significantly less negative coverage of Obama. Negative stories about the Dem candidate in the media overall totaled 29%, but only 14% of the cabler’s stories on Obama were negative. About 73% of MSNBC stories on McCain were negative, compared with 57% in the broader media landscape.
Fox News ran more negative stories on Obama than did the rest of the media — 40% vs. 29%. Fox News trailed other media in positive reports on Obama — 25% vs. 36%. Positive stories about McCain accounted for 22% of Fox News reports but only 14% in the rest of the media, while 40% of Fox News stories on McCain were negative vs. 57% in the rest of the media.
Yet even on Fox News, the study noted, McCain’s "negative stories outweighed positive ones by almost two to one." Also, the proportion of negative stories about Obama and McCain were identical at 40% of all Fox News stories about each candidate. And while Fox trailed other media in positive stories about Obama, the cabler reported more positive stories on Obama than on McCain — 25% vs. 22%.

And before you try to argue your point using Fox News, we already know that for the most part they are fair and balanced.

Most people react along partisan lines. Where they sit determines how they think -- A butt-command-brain situation.
