I noticed on the some of the gun auction sites the SCAR is for sale. They seem to have all been tan. Does anyone know when the black ones will be available?
Side note prices are not of this world...

Too bad...With all this Obama panic buying, I don't think The SCAR, or Bushmaster/Magpul ACR will ever be produced on a mass scale or sold for a reasonable price.

I wonder what mod will be done to them to be able to be sold in CA. Or maybe that's a no-go.

Well if the price doesn't drop to a more realistic level ($2000 or less) for us mere mortals and it doesn't come in black. Then I am going back to buying AR receivers.:cantbeli:
That anodizing on the upper looks like the older prototypes...

If Obama doesnt attack gun laws his first year how long do you think it will take for the prices to come down again?

I'm holding out for the Bushmaster ACR, hopefully they make it out in time. As for anymore overpriced piston AR's, you can have em. My DI AR never failed me here in PA. Piston AR's are just hype for us not in the sandbox. At this point the only reason I even want an ACR is to have something new or different or even futuristic looking since HK never put out a civvy XM8. You can have your Scar's for over $4k! If I even had $3k to spend on another rifle, I'd look for a G3A3!!!!

No thanks. With that kind of money. It would be better spent in Vegas with black jack and hookers.

2x For what I use my rifle for, the direct impingement (although not the best) is sufficient.
But ouch, I thought the MSRP for the SCAR was supposed to be around $2000?

MSRP is now around $2600-$2700. Thank Obama.

So is the $5k SCAR a special 'limited edition' or 'special' pre-production gun?

FNH released 1000 pre-production SCAR's. BTW they are up to 6K now! I also read that the 16S is not compatible with the military SCAR in terms of parts? not sure if its true.

I'd personally rather wait a few (or maybe a lot more than a few) years until the price drops...and use that 4,000 for tuition instead.

Total coindence that they waited until just after the election to announce the MSRP. p-)

Well with gun sales ruling this economy, and other things he needs to clean up to cover our butts. These and assault rifles will be fine for years to come. We will see these drop in price, but will we see the masada a production level rifle. i hope!
No, it was not.

^ yes I remember chen sayin 1800$, but hey gun inflation is up period, so ofcourse the msrp will be higher due to gun demand. If obama steers clear and prices drop. This price will to come down, and the guy who paid 8,000$ large will be swimming in tears.

Oh yes, lower figures were floated before the election, some from the "inside." No doubt about that.

Keep waiting....
SCAR are currently made in Europe, so there is a lot of work to make it US import legal. that is what drive the current retial price to over 2400.00 dollars. plus all the mark up from everyone trying to get one....Since it is the SCAR.
until SOCOM accept the SCAR as the defacto combat rifle, you will not likely see anymore SCAR imported. If Obama don't attack the gun rights, then we will see a SCAR production line in the States shorty after the SOCOM acceptance of the rifle.
