We're going to my dad's house for lunch today. We'll celebrate Father's Day and his birthday (June 16th). I'll stop and see my father in law on our way home.

Hey - thanks for being so nice to me. He died 13 years ago, and so I'm over it (sort of), but he's buried next to kids that died at the Khobar barracks bombing and next to a CIA guy named William Buckley. It's cool because there is a cedar tree planted there (Buckley worked in Lebanon, and my dad was Lebanese).

Colon cancer -- sucked in a big way. He was a brigadier general in the US Army, and then worked for a big law firm in Washington. He won the Distinguished Service Cross, Bronze Star and Purple Heart on the same day at the battle of Chipyong-Ni, Korea, February, 1951.
I think he contracted the colon cancer from Agent Orange when he was in Vietnam, but then again, I wear a tinfoil hat ;)

 I took my kids to the cemetery today. We took a plant to John's (their dad's) grave. It was an emotional day for them and for me. We went to see John's parents as well. It's a tough day for them too of course. I just wanted to give you a hug. I hope it was an okay day for you. It sounds like your dad was a great man. RIP

My wife and son took me to brunch at some dive in Virginia Beach for fathers day. It wasn't a big celebration just my wife saying happy fathers day and my little one laughing while playing peek-a-boo with him this morning was enough for me.
ps... Sorry to hear that about your pop WolverineBlue :( . Sounded like a great man.

WolverineBlue-- Am sure you had a great dad and sorry to hear he has since passed away. But, remember, you will always have the memories and no one will ever take that away :)
My father is also a vet and was put in for the Bronze Star for something he did in Vietnam. However, I would still love my father just as much had he never set foot in the military, because he will always be something special to me. A hero if you will.
A few years ago, my father was losing a lot of weight, became moody and tired. To make a long story short it was found out that he has graves disease. That's when your thyroid goes bad and has to be killed off.
He's been on medications since to take place of his thyroid. Well, all was going good up until they found a lump in his throat the other day and we're going to the VA hospital in Albuquerque on wednesday to find out what's going on.
I admire my dad for staying calm, because I'm pretty worried. However, I will stay optimistic and am sure it's just something that will pass by.
I propose a toast to your father, my father and everyone elses father.
Cheers!
