that's true. If you are tired, you can sleep almost everywhere, no matter if it's cold, wet or if you are 30 guys on the same truck.

ok I'm going to try and make this simple for you to understand

-Bulkowski said he sleeps like the British soldier in the photo

-I noticed that in the picture posted SiFion one of the street kids is sleeping the same way.. look at their arms.

-then you come along and think I'm criticising the US instead and say that I should show pictures of Saddam's bed.

If you still don't understand find someone that speaks you're language to translate for you.

There was this method we were taught, sleep for 15mins,no more no less.By the time you wake up,you will feel good. The trick is that after 15mins you begin to go into a slumber but within the 15mins,your brain is relaxed. If you go over 15mins you will wake up feeling tired and even more sleepy. When i tried it in an actual combat environment,it worked.I still use it till today.

Yea, most proffesionals reccomend 15 to 30 minute power naps. Beyond that, and you begin to slip further into the different stages of the cleep cycle; deep sleep, REM, etc.

They also reccomend, if you are sleeping for extended periods of time to try to make it close to 3 hour intervals (3, 6, or 9 hours), as the sleep cycle is generally a 3 hour cycle, repeated throughout the night. I can't imagine it is the exact same for everyone, but interesting nonetheless.

Was on an OP several years ago. We had "OC's" (Observer Controllers) watching every move we made and writing up their observations in the usual little green notebooks.

After four days we had a pause in the action to allow the OC's to evaluate and comment.

The one assigned to my section was berating my Captain about my lack of sleep. "Captain, do you have any idea how many hours your Intel Officer has been awake? We estimate he hasn't slept in over 80+ hours." I was leaning against a tree just to stay upright. "That man is combat innefective at this point. LOOK at him!"

After the OC's left I was given three hours to sleep. Refreshed me enough to go nearly 72 hours straight after that. When we came in from the field I think I slept for 12 hours a day for about a week.

-----

Let me tell you civilians out there - it's an incredible feeling to have "down time" and you get to go back to your "hooch" made from bungee cords and a rain poncho.

Actually slept pretty good on the hood of my Humvee a few times...
