Portuagal's Military= SUCKS
Portuagal is Spain's Canada. Only difference is that Canada's military owns Portuagal and is probaly better then Spains minus the Aircraft carriers lol.

Damn dude , you have some really big problem with the Portugal Army or something ? WTF , really strange . Were you a POW of thiers or something ? What gives ?
AFSOC
Unlike Canada, we are not part of the G8, our budget doesn't allow a big military force.
And I'm not a skinny ass nerd, and I WILL join the military.

Hmm no offense, we are only 7 million and still we have an army of 500,000 soldiers, but you have no reason to have a big army, you have no enemies.
I don't know anything about the Portugese army, can you supply some info (sites, articles, etc...)?

Portugal
Pop: 10,524,145 (July 2004 est.)
Military expenditures - dollar figure: $3,497.8 million (2003)
Its also a conscript army is it not. Everyone must serve? (Planning to go professional I belive though)
Spain:
Pop: 40,280,780
Military expenditures - dollar figure: $9,906.5 million (2003)
Canada:
Pop: 32,507,874 (July 2004 est.)
Military expenditures - dollar figure: $9,801.7 million (2003)
55,000 men and women in all branches of the full time army I believe.
USA:
Population: 293,027,571 (July 2004 est.)
Military expenditures - dollar figure: $399 billion (2001)
I would not compair portugal and canada. Portugal has a much smaller population, a smaller country to defend, a smaller military expendature, and a conscript army. Population to expendature wise, we are about equal but because of the way our forces work, the money goes to diffrent places.

Yah but they sure know how to cook!
I spend 3 months living with a family from Portugal and no matter how hard I worked out I gained 40 lbs..! I've never seen so much food in my life...3 diffrent meat courses per meal. woot
Never had their Army rations though.
Sorry I have nothing else to say.
Cheers!

We had the Portuguese Military Police in our AO in East Timor, they were large, scary buggers, looked like they had a solid diet of raw meat and bar bells. We used to call them the Portuguese death squad, not that they killed anyone, but they were hard bastards.
Very effective at crowd control. Very entertaining to watch a ten man team go into a crowd of several thousand, belt anybody who gets in their road grab the trouble makers, belt them and then drag them out of the crowd, again belting anyone who got in their road. :slap: :slap: woot
Just as we were leaving the country we heard they had tangled with a platoon of Fijian Infantry on the piss in Dili and had come off second best, that would have been the only fight they lost in the 6 months I was there.

One of my uncles told me years back about a funny event he had when he was younger as a Stone masons aprentice in the interier of BC.
"Working with a mix of Italian and Portuguese stone masons, bricklayers... Friday night comes along and we walked into a town Bar with Loggers on one side, and Miners on the other about to square off for their weekly Friday Night dust up.
Being a good (and mighty thirsty) Scott I did the Bonnie Prince Charlie, and sat behind the bar with a drink, and watched the show...we had some tough SOB's with us.
Even our RCMP stayed outside till the battle lost some steam, which was rare as in those days they loved to get right into the fights."
Good old days. rofl
Cheers!
