any ways....its great to know they are protecting us against used cars and left overs....what the feck ever happened to asking if you had a gun....

A friend of my families was traveling to the States, it was just her and her 2 kids. and when they hit the border the border guard was giving her 13y/o daughter a nasty look, and so the mom said "Couldnt you just smile ?" (in a polite way) and the Border guard freaked, he pulled the vehicle to the side and searched everything in their vehicle, and it took like and hour. and humiliated them...The Canadian border guards are much nicer and friendlier

Hey, I am visiting a friend of mine in Sept and we might go to BC. What do I need to cross the border? Will my California driver's liscense do, or do I need a passport and/or something else?

Serves her right.

Anyways terrorists have never attacked Canada so they have reason to be 'freindlier and nicer' to people.

Wow awsome, ,BC is a beautiful province, and the women are hot and you can drink at 19 :D all you need for sure is a drivers licence, ,and proof that the vehicle your driving belongs to you

I just heard a better one...

My sister lives in Seattle and she was coming back across the border to get home and the guard decided he wanted her number. She said "No I'm married" and he got pissed and searched her car.......Too bad they fuound the MJ she was bringing back (it was a small amount for herself)

some answers...
the leftovers question was funny ill grant you that, but they would have been concerned of pickles, tomatoes etc crossing the border as agricultural products are strictly controlled and even thrown in a landfill a couple seeds could do some sort of irreparable harm (dont ask why they restrict agricultural products, it baffles me)

as for other weird questions and erratic behaviour from officers.
the most telling clue that a customs officer has when somethings up is the crossers behaviour. they wont search ever car and truck or container but they are on the lookout for an incorrectly filled out declaration, uncomfortable person or suspicious situation. its by picking up on the little things that officers investigate the big things

cheers

Amen to that- that's why we're going. :D

I am visiting a certain young lady college friend/co-worker. Her family owns a beach house about an hour from the border in Washington which we will have all to ourselves for a week. Then, two more of our buddies/co-workers are going to be stopping by on the last leg of their 3 week road trip across the US and we're going to BC for a day.

And it just so happens this young lady just turned 19 last week. ;) (I am about 4 months away form 20 myself).

"Good Times" :D
