Protestors gathered to support Israel were pelted with eggs and bottles, then dispersed by police
A pro-Israel rally in Malmo, Sweden was torn apart Sunday by pro-Palestinian residents who arrived on the scene with eggs, bottles, and tear gas grenades which they threw at Israel's supporters. Police dispersed the entire crowd.
Seven hundred people took part in the rally in support of Israel, which was held at the city's main square. It was organized by Malmo's Jewish community and Sweden's Democratic Party.
Protestors carried signs that said 'Stop eight years of Qassams' and 'Peace for children in Israel and Gaza'. The organizers received a police permit for the demonstration.
However, a number of pro-Palestinian protestors who did not have a permit to demonstrate took to the streets in retaliation to the approved rally. They were not dispersed by police despite lacking a permit.
"At some point, about a half an hour after the protest began, pro-Palestinian protestors began to throw eggs, bottles, and even a tear gas grenade," Elad Meier, a Bnei Akiva and Jewish Agency envoy to Sweden, recounted.
Meier added that the lawless protestors disconnected the speakers brought to the square by the Jewish community while its leader was speaking. The act brought the pro-Israel rally to an end, as others could not speak.
At this point, Meier said, police stepped in and asked the unruly protestors to leave. Officers then proceeded to clear the square of all present, including those who had received permission to demonstrate.
The Jewish community in Malmo was angered by the police's conduct, and its president has lodged an official complaint stating that only those who had protested without a permit should have been dispersed.

Malmo is not really a good place for anyone who is pro-Israeli to demonstrate..
Malmö has some places that are not really a good place for you're not from Arabic descent.
I hate saying it, but everyone is "scared" of the pro-Palis, and sadly, pro-Israelis are push-overs, simply because they decide to follow the law instead of breaking it. I've seen the same thing all over Europe.
On a side note, I can't find any info on this in Swedish online newspapers. Completely ignored?
PS. Last week there was a really good interview with a Swedish/Hungarian professor in "Islamology" who had lived in Israel for 25 years. He really got the reporter on her toes.

Bear in mind that Malmö is a city of over 280,000 people.
This demonstration (for and against) did NOT exceed an estimated 600 people (which is 0.2% of Malmö’s population, assuming they would all have come from there).
No "tear gas grenades" used, by anyone.
One arrest, three detentions.
No reported injuries.

Was on TV? Do you have a link or something by any chance? If not, can you please to sum up in couple of sentences what they were talking about. I'm really curios. :) Why he got the reporter "on her toes"?

Ok about getting her on her toes might be a bit of an exaggeration :D but he does manage to evade all her pro-Palestine "traps" so to say, and answers the questions very "democratically".

It should be noted that it's not illegal to protest without a permit in Sweden, it's more of a good form thing. Hopefuly the cops got some good video footage so that they can prosecute the scumbags that was violent and disrupted the rally.

Yeah, what if, for example, Israel were to kill 940 Palestinian civilians and injure thousands more in three weeks. People would be in such an uproar. :cantbeli:
Eggs and tear gas, boo hoo.

Eggs and tear gas is violence, there's no way around it.
They don't live in the PA but in Europe (and guess what? Palestinians living in the PA weren't allowed to protest and were dispersed by Palestinian police), since they live there it's time to respect the laws of that country or leave.

The same could easily be said for the Zionist Diaspora. At any rate, I have full faith that those who broke the law were arrested and charged.

Loyal Zionists? So all of the pro-Israeli protestors were Israelis who lived in Israel before moving to Sweden? I can bet that most of them were non-Jewish..

Members of the "Jewish-community" engaged in a "pro-Israel" rally certainly aren't Zionists. Oh no. In fact, they were almost all certainly non-Jewish Swedes who love war and killing terrorists and such with such a fervor they put real Zionists to shame.

At times you can hear people screaming "Hitler är stor!", (Hitler is great). Anti-Israeli rallies is perhaps the only time you'll see Nazis hanging out with left-wing radicals and Muslims.

Is tear gas even legal in Sweden? Or is that Pepper spray?
I pretty both are illegal for private persons, and is consider the same as carrying a weapon.
I love how the muslim diasporas in europe that organized pro palestine rallys adopt the democratic way of mind of the countries that welcomed them.. tolerance, and respect for the other people that don't share the same opinion..
It baffles me why people allow this.
