Quartered Safe Out Here
George MacDonald Fraser
I just finished reading this book. It is in a word "excellent." The book is the auto-biography of George MacDonald Fraser who wrote the Flashman books. During World War 2 he served in an infantry regiment in Burma. This book revolves mainly around his experiences with the 10 man section he was apart of and the campaign to capture Rangoon in 1944/45.
Fraser later goes on to describe his feelings and the feelings of his section upon hearing about the Atomic Bombs being dropped on Japan. Fraser has a few other things to say about the differences between 1940's Britain and modern Britain. He also describes combat in the jungle and also every day life as he remembers it.
If anyone else is looking for a good book to read then i'd say get this. Its well worth the money
