Ok fellas, I've just bought a long gym membership, new pair of trainers, and a situp bench.
http://www.advmax.com/3012.jpg
I'm dead set on loosing my *cough* all Australian beer belly *cough* so any of you fitness buffs care to give me a helping hand, some pointers, tips, exercises anything like that, even my diet because ive hit the "Chris Ryan outrunning the Iraqi's for 7 days diet" for about 4 days now, and i lost alot of weight, but i still got flab around the joint.
Would alot of situps tone away and tighten up my stomach? or any other exercise you would do at a gym or at home.
Cheers :D

Problem is mate, that if you have carried around some extra weight for some time and you lose it your skin will still be stretched. It may take some time before it becomes that firm six-pack (and not the Foster's six-pack) you want...

A good push up routine which will increase your max
reps, is to find out the max amount you can do then do 3 sets of half that amount (if your doing 40, do 3 sets of 20). On your last set go to failure. Do it about 4 times a week. At the end of the week find out what your new max is and change your routine to suit. You should see results pretty quick.
Works for sit-ups as well.
Whats the name of that bench btw? Is it any good? Theres one at the gym(looks slightly difference though) and i was wondering about getting one for home.

Got mine for 60$ on special, good buy. Cant do situps up this carpet, so i had to get the machine.

you can work and tone your abs all you want, but unless you lose the belly fat, you won't see them. This is where diet and cardiovascular exercise come in.

You can't spot reduce, ie doing a heap of situps won't reduce your beer gut. The bench is a good idea but your runners are going to be your best friend in the battle of the bulge. Run Forrest run.
Did you get a couple of personal trainer sessions with your membership? If you did make sure he/she has a good idea of what you want to achieve so he/she can point you in the right direction.

Runn till u puke, and do sit ups till u piss yourself.
To tone down the belly (after running always) after you finish one set of sit ups, hold your legs 3inches above the ground for as long as u can, and work your way down as you do the sets.
Like Jack said, all he needs is a mat and his floor. Thats the best way to do it. Old school style. Do all the basic stuff. Dont pay too much attention to the fancy stuff until later.
Do butterfly crunches as well. Put your two hands behind your ears, and as u come up into the crunch position bring your right elbow and left knee to meet. Hold it for 2 seconds, then do the same thing with the opposite side.
Good luck man.
And im here if you need any more help.

I would suggest not to do any abdominal work right now, until you lose some of the excess fat on the abdonimal area. Concentrate on cardio. If you dont lose enough excess on the abs region and concentrate on sit ups you will achieve the opposit of what you want.

First of all... get rid of the beer. Excess refined carbohydrates in your diet is what causes the collection of fat around your midsection. A "beer belly" is really just a sugar belly.
I was already thin, but when I cut refined carbs out of my diet (because of problems regulating blood sugar), I lost an inch or two around my waist... it just melted away over the course of a month, without me even intending to lose weight.
Try skipping beer (if you must drink, have vodka or gin instead... clear liquors have the least amount of sugars), sweets, pasta, white bread, and breakfast cereal. When you want carbohydrates, have whole grains or fruit instead. It makes a huge difference.
Add exercise to that and you'll be in great shape before you know it.

Loosing a "belly" is a 3 way process - you cant really do it without focusing on all three.
1) Cardio - to burn off fat
2) Proper diet (essential)
3) Abdominal exercises to tighten the muscle wall.
A fair degree of your average "belly" is purely from a sagging stomach muscle wall, but you can have damn firm abs and a decent layer of fat over them too :)
Best approach is to focus on all three, and DONT expect to come right in a week or a month. I've heard it said that if it took you 3 years of neglect to "build" a good belly, you will have to work damn hard for 6months to a year to loose it completely. THATS the bugger.... anyone can follow a good diet/exercise plan for a month or 2, its a lot harder to continue endlessly (unless you are under 25 and have no job/family, of course).

I found that Brazillian Jujitsu (BJJ) works REALLY FREAKIN WELL. When our teacher said "5000 calorie workouts" he wasn't kidding. after 1 hour of his cardio EVERYONE is dead or ready to puke. :D
may the good times roll!

run, bike ride, train hard at the gym.
Drink beer once a week max.
Cut out fatty foods. but eat plently of meat still, chicken, beef extra.
You can run for an hour or something, but i prefer riding, as you can ride all day.
And if all that fails, 500mg's of Test for 12 wks. Might be a good start.

Losing fat crashcourse: cut down meals a day to 2. Breakfast and dinner. Between that, you're gonna feel hungry, so to deal with that take lolly pops. You can eat a lot of them without really getting anything in your body, and it somewhat keeps the hunger away. Then, work out all day like crazy. Just keep doing stuff all day. This is guaranteed to make you lose weight like crazy. In fact, it works so 'good' that you gotta watch out not to start suffering from underweight. :D

Strength training and cardiovascular exercise burn fat faster than cardio or strength training by themselves. This has something to do with muscle burning fat better. Run 3-4 times a week with pushups (pressups), pull ups, situps at the end of the workout.
Also, there's no need to totally cut beer from your diet. But drinking in moderation is important, as binge drinkers (more than 4 drinks of any type of alcohol) tend to be more susceptible to the "beer belly". Still, most people with beer bellies need to eat less not drink less.

It might not be all that healthy, but neither is building up a beer belly. :D Besides, it does work.

This is true. If you're carrying a good deal of excess weight, resist the urge to lose it quickly. If you crash diet, your skin will not have time to adjust and you'll be left with folds of loose skin and unsightly stretch marks.
The Atkins/low carbohydrate diets have had a great deal of success in the U.S. The problem is, in many cases the weight loss is too dramatic. I know quite a few former obese folks who are now lean and trim, but are suffering from the after effects of accelerated weight loss.
It depends a lot on your skin's elasticity (smoking causes a lot of skin problems), your age, and luck (you came out of the good end of the gene pool). Calisthenics, cutting down on the calories, and stomach exercises will get you where you need to be. I would recommend talking to your doctor before you start any sort of weight loss program.
Oh, and good luck!

Hell yeah!
Even doing some 3 minute practice matches with 70% power gets you out of juice real fast.
Btw, have you been practicing for long?
