More and more Swedes are being detained abroad on suspicions of involvement in terrorism (http://www.thelocal.se/tag/terrorism), Sweden’s foreign ministry reports.

Currently, nine Swedish citizens suspected or convicted of terrorism are being held in other countries.

“In recent years, we’ve seen an increase in a variety of such crimes. It most often involves a deprivation of liberty but can also involve information about people who’ve been killed in an area where terrorism is being fought or information about the finding of a Swedish passport in such an area,” said Ministry of Foreign Affairs consular section deputy director Helmer Broberg to Sveriges Radio (SR).

Broberg believes the increase is a reflection of the fact that more resources are being devoted globally to fight terrorism.

He added that terrorism cases are harder to work with compared to other cases because secrecy can make it hard for the foreign ministry to get information.

Of the nine Swedes being held, three have been convicted of terror-related crimes.

The remaining six are still awaiting trial.

I think it's because you are oppressing them so they turn their rage against the west.

They want to live here, yet they want to blow us up at the same time because we're everything they hate?

WTF.

I wish I knew a solution to all the world's problems.

I knew it. The swedes are evil and since they have 7 people who are terrorists abroad, that means they have failed in integrating the islamo-facists.

They should expell the other 500 000 imigrants just to be shure there are no other cases like this:roll:

Pretty funny. There was a "Swede" arrested in Oregon USA a year or so ago for terrorist behavior. He was not your typical blond-haired, blue-eyed "Swede".

I somehow doubt that many of the swedish citizens in custody in other countries look like the stereotype-swedes you described ;-) if any at all...

On the other hand, those guys are even quite rare to be seen even here in Sweden so...

I don't really know what new this message really is, since it's nothing new that individuals that have a radicalistic and/or fundamentalistic mindset and background live a "regular" life in the more foreigner-welcoming western countries, take for example the 9/11 bombers who lived and studied in Germany.
And since Sweden is commonly known to be very liberal on the immigration-matter, it's not really a surprise that some "terrorists" have swedish citizenship and live there!

My understanding is that the Swedish Govt has tightened up immigration - so not as easy as it once was.

That is probably the case, yes, though I still consider the swedish immigration administration a rather open one amongst their other european counterparts, but you certainly have a point. During the last year there was an increased amount of newspaper articles in pretty much every larger newspaper about immigrants being returned to ther own countries, and also an ongoing debate whether immigrants who commit crime should be thrown out or not....

@tyovan4
That was the first thought to pop up in my head too:-D
The answer is: probably about half, the other coming from rinkeby:)

If you are not discriminating about your immigrant population because you're killing off your own babies to the point where your population growth is below replacement levels -- and thus have to import people from the Third World to make up the difference -- guess what?

Your demographics change and along with it so will your culture, economy and freedom.
