I drive 2.6 miles to work. If the weather is nice, I throw all my crap in a backpack and make the trip on my bike.

I live 5 minutes from work. I live right next door to my school, so I walk to class. Very convenient.

I now live about 10 miles - 30 minutes or so from work. Farthest away I ever lived was when I lived in Dover NH & drove aallll the way down to Woburn MA every day (about 70 miles - nearly 2 hours some days)

My work is about 5 or 6 miles away. Takes a little over 10 minutes to get there. Gas prices right now are approx. 1.80 USD... ridiculous. Good thing I drive a fuel-efficient little compact.
When I worked with my dad back home, it was at least an hour to work... 45 miles or so. That's too far, IMO.

Hmmm... I live about 115 KM (72 miles) from where I work some days. I don't actually "work" there technically - its just the place I go to do some work, since it has all the servers right there. Supposed to move to within 1 mile by the end of the year, if all goes well.
On the plus side, I only go there 2 or 3 times a week, otherwise I work from home (0.00000001 miles).
Typically 3-4 hours spent driving per day that I go there, and petrol is NOT cheap in South African terms.

I live about 35 miles from my job. But I only work 3 days a week so it's all good. On a good day (read: no traffic) it takes like 25 minutes to get to work. On a BAD day in LA traffic....Jesus, I'd be better off not going.
Gas varies depending on where I fill up. It's about $2.41 around my house but only like $2.30 by my work.

In the US:
62 miles/100Km each way, every day :(
At the time, gas was just under $US 1 dollar a gallon :D
In NZ:
6 miles/10 Km each way, 2-3 days a week :)
40 feet in my pajamas with a pit stop at the coffee machine :D
petrol is $NZ 1.15 litre :(

I am mostly 2 miles from work and 3.2 miles from school.
Gas is 2.30 yesterday and has gone down to 2.25 today.
Some nights I just sleep here at the office on the fllor under my desk (I have a nice comfy goose-down sleepingbag in my office for those nights. Why in the hell would I do that if I live just 2 miles from work you ask?? because sometimes I HAVE to get somethig down before the next morning and it can take up to an hour to compile a module in the software I am working with, before I can continue working. Not quite enough time to go home and sleep a bit, so I crash on the floor for a bit -o-shuteye. besides it only happens like once every two weeks or so.

In HS, I lived 20+ miles from school, requiring a train ride and then 1 mile walk (in snow, uphill both ways). College, duh, I lived on campus, requiring anything from 7 minute walk to 15 minute walk. Cardiology internship, 23+ mile drive.
