Good.
I just tought that because there where houses burning.

After searching for this accident I found that this happened in 1997.

A monthlong Air Force investigation found that four of 39 fasteners for the wing's structural support assembly were apparently left off when the wings were removed and reinstalled in January 1996, according to a report released Friday.

That's a lot of fasteners to forget if you ask me... ;)

Woah, that landed very close to some buildings. Very lucky no one was injured.

Why did the pilot stay in so long? Was he trying to recover? Stear away from buildings?

I think he was just trying to get the plane stabilized, so he could bail out safely.

He just wanted to avoid casualties. I remember that accident being on the news. The first thing he said "Was anybody hurt?" or something like that.

This reminds me of when my buddy was going through SERE training at Fairchild AFB. They were on a break during academics and were hanging out outside when the infamous B-52 airshow practice routine was being practiced. Basically they all watched it auger in....after a stunned silence one of the guys said "Someone call 911!"

I remember this. This was september 1997 and was living at Ft. Meade at the time. Wanted to go to that airshow, but had to work and couldn't go....

Believe a house was destroyed, but no one was at home at the time.

I remember the pilot walking into the people's yard in a daze, the homeowner brought him a chair and water until the authorities arrived.

I'd hate to be the NCO that signed off on that wing installation.

An F-15E from Lakenheath dropped a BDU-33 up North a few months back. Nothing really big but made it into the News. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/suffolk/3389957.stm

Yeah, wasn't it from Holloman AFB, New Mexico. I remember that because a friend of mine from high school (not the sharpest tool in the shed) was an F-117 crew chief at Holloman at the time. I heard about that and figured "par for the course" if that guy was involved. i don't think anyone was injured...but I bet that the pilot had a lot of explaining to do.

I worked at that airport- Martin State airport- for 8 months flyin in an out of there. What's funny is our American greed. Something was given much greater than was lost. The few of those folks whose homes (trailer homes) were directly affected by the crash recieved substantial settlements. The result is a series of new homes around 2000+ sq. ft.
