Does anyone know if there is such a think as a Polish army smock similar to what the British wear i.e. with a hood? If there is such a thing are they available to purchase.

Do you know of an online store where I can get one of these?

BTW Frock in English can also mean dress, which is why I laughed a bit.

Ok, first of all - the thing on the picture above is actually a waterproof parka, not a smock per se. Currently being replaced by a newer model, of a licensed W.L.GORE material. I wouldn't reccomend it for several reasons.

As for the true "smock" - in its classic, Brit style, there's none. There were some attempts to introduce it by some private companies (such as the one shown in the store in post above - its a commercial item made in China, printed in Polish camo), but for now we have no such gear issued. Funny thing is that, I'm currently working on a new smock design to be presented and possibly introduced to our forces (recon and SF units). I'll keep you updated folks.

One of commercial smock attempts, designed by my friend, instructor from Polish paramilitary organisation:

These are recon/scout units coveralls (jacket and baggy trousers worn over field unifom) not smocks (not trying to be terminology nazi). Something like german/russian WWII camouflage overgarments. The last smock Polish Armed forces were using as an issue item - was, to my knowledge - the Denison Smock, for our Paras in the West.

Be it your way ;-) Note that currently term is associated mainly with more or less sophisticated field jacket pioneered by Denison smock, and used mostly by western european armies, esp. special forces.

Im not trying to be a A$$ Im just pointing out these have been called smocks and oversuits for as long as I can remember , I guess it depends on what the original poster is really looking for , no Ill intent was ment :)

No problem with that, I am aware that word "smock" is a rather generic term with quite a long history and refers to various garments - the smock in XV cent or XVII century is something diffrent, than the garment named as such today. Nowadays when I hear "smock" I associate it with a specific cut field jacket in first place -not a goretex rain jacket nor an old school camouflage coveralls.

Yes you can buy it. It's produced by Helikon-tex for civilian market. Well i do not trust in the quality level of this manufacturer but wouldn't expect too much.

Retail price (including VAT): about 249,00 zł (about 55,50 Eur, 71,20 $)

You should add shipment cost to the total price.

Do you know of any other place that has better quality jackets similar to this? Better yet can you buy the issue jackets somewhere?

There wasn't any issued parka like this. Issued items were:

Goretex parka (wz. 128/MON):

or "behatka" (wz. 130/MON).

I've never heard about any other issued kinds of fall/winter jackets. But I've heard about plans to equip our troops in such British style parkas in the future. But rather ask Cath22 about this couse he's much closer to the main stream.

There's no need to translate - it would only add to the confusion. Just use "smock" and everyone who is in the topic willl know what type of garment do you mean.

I have this piece of garment (in black colour) and I must say it is probably the best jacket I have ever had. and I'm quite satisfied with it's quality. although I'm not a pro, just a chairborne civilian ;-)
