That is an Operational Security issue, so you wont find an answer here. Maybe try google....

Actually I prefer a small MP3 player, as I can choose what type of music I listen to, and don't have to worry about it loosing reception.

True that. But make sure it can play videos so you have mobile adult entertainment that can be carried into more private locations haha.

No doubt. I brought two Apple products with me to Afghanistan - my 20GB iPod for music, and the 30GB "i****" for the portajohns. :)

You should find that with some research, you will find the models you are looking for maybe in Janes Defence, it may have some articles, I dont think it would matter if you knew the model in reference to security.

The ones for the real operations will freq hope, will be coded, they will only out put the power nessary for operations. They will find you, you dont find them...like the chuck norris thing..

Even if you new the freq they are on, you would likely hear how a snow blower is working at the end of a runway at some airbase.

I did find the 300 series on google.

Thank you Tanker31B for the information... I thin it will be interesant to have something like the original stuff. Maybee to have an Produkt which is more acurate than the civilian stuff and with more funktions etc.
I think it is nat a problem to use somethin like this in Germany if i dont have some freqs os the Officials use.
Thanks

My thoughts

The GP300 is not actually a military radio, but a professional radio. They are used by construction workers and people like that. These radios are probably not secure at all, so if the military uses them, it is probably for boring things.

Also, the US troops use different radios... MBITRs, AN/PRC-117F etc etc etc...
I doubt they would use un-secure comms during OPs and stuff like that. They are probably only used on base.

So basically, it is a radio for professional use bought by the army. It is not actually made for military use only. It's just like a 'walkie-talkie' but a bit more advanced.
