Probably the best war movie i've seen is The Longest Day.

Band Of Brothers, even though it isn't a Movie.

And there is this movie i can't remember the name of, but it tells the story of a German and an American soldier all through the war and it is pretty good.

And it hasn't been made a movie, but Alastair Macleans HMS Uysses would make a damn good movie.
