MANPADS are sort of a bane in the post-Cold War world. Too many of them are falling into terrorist or criminal hands.

Philbert,

The Australian Army's 16 Air Defence Regiment (16AD) aka "Cloud punchers" are equipped with both the RBS-70 and Rapier SAM systems.

They are based in South Australia and regularly have members of the Regiment serve onboard Royal Australian Navy ships (SAD - Ships Army Detachment) on deployments to the Persian Gulf.

Hope that helps :)

THere is no need for better as seeker in rocket chose target so you only need to point weapon in "general direction", I think you can also add nv to launcher for night shooting..

Very nice pics but I think the last two Redeyes are Stingers with the IFF system removed. Note the different sight to the previous pics.

Just by looking at it you can see that the polish GROM is just an Igla (SA-18).

There is a little confusion over SOVIET MANPADS... the SA-16 IGLA-1 is actually more advanced than the SA-18 IGLA and entered service later. It has better guidance with a proportional tracking function.

BTW Stingers and SA-14 and later Soviet MANPADS have all aspect capability.. ie they are sensitive enough to target cool parts of the aircraft which means that incoming aircraft can be targetted, as can helos from any angle.

Yeah and just by looking on Buran we can say that it is american SpaceShutle rofl rofl rofl rofl
Poland NEVER produces Igla family rockets

We have plans of Igla Igla-1(We never bought official plans of them but accuired them "the other way") Strielas(We produced Strielas before GROM) etc and thanks to mjr Marian Zacharski we have plans of Stingers (and few other things like F-15 radars.... ) Our enghineers took the best from both mixed and spiced it with some Polish designs and voila we have GROM

Q:
Why when employing russian missiles you have to wear goggles.
And what`s with the box linked with a wire to the SAM some sort of training mechanism ?
