Seems that the Wall Street Journal believes that President Obama is speaking fear all the time and raising the level of uneasiness and fear in the USA. If you were alive during the Pres. Reagan years, he always talked positively, giving the country (USA) hope and dispelling fear. The "bright and shining city on a hill"...etc. Sure a lot of it is rhetoric, but still it does have an effect on the average man/woman...don't you think?
The above article is good as it shows the percentage numbers of unemployment during the "great depression" of 1929 versus today, and the percentage of auto sales drops, etc. The percentage of auto sale drop in the depression was a staggering 90%

There's a lot of buzz in the media about how Obama needs to realize he's no longer a Senator - one voice among many - but the President who sets the tone for the whole nation. They're of the opinion he needs to temper his language in order to instill some positive momentum.

To get what they want, they need to instill more fear but the world economy is feeling a bit brittle. I don’t think they quite got what they wanted out of the people and are now realizing the jig is up for the next election cycle. So, what’s left to do? It’s easy, smash as much as you can without killing the cash cow leaving little for the competition to work with next go around.
I figure the damage is about done and they will back off the fear mongering rhetoric shortly instead switching over to the tried and true blamethrowers in the media to attempt a salvage for the 010 election and later 012.

My main man for the last election, that I was wanting to win the presidency, was Republican Fred Thompson. I really thought he would cut the mustard...but alas....it was not to be.

nah the thing is we got a president who's real. he doesn't talk positive when things are terrible, and things ARE terrible right now.

What do you mean "he is real"? Did FDR talk the economy down?

Part of national leadership is to talk up the country, the economy, and the war. There's no way in hell FDR for example went around "keepin' it real" when times were bad.
During the campaign and on inauguration day Obama told us that hope won over fear.
I guess hope lasted for all of two weeks.
Have any of the Obama supporters realized what a phony they voted for yet?

I suddenly got a vison of what if Obama had been the commander of the Alamo instead of William B. Travis! He would have said "we're surrounded men, best we surrender!" then he would have run up a white surrender flag, and they would have all been put to the bayonet. Santa Anna would have had 13 days head start to catch the Texians headed east, would have caught them all and Texas would still be part of Mexico (all the way up into Colorado).

Oldest trick in the book: scare 'em and they'll give you unlimited power. Find 'em someone to focus their hate on, and they will give you complete control. Listen to how Obama and his staff have started to single out "the right" as being the obstructionists. So, now, let's take their guns, or at least make ammo unaffordable. Let's shut off their talk radio. Let's turn our "political activists" (ACORN) loose with a couple of billion dollars to screw up their elections... then, when there's a right-wing backlash, we'll have our "enemies of the state".
Yeah, that's a little over the top, but I keep wondering about that "civilian security force" he promised us.

Well, no Texian would've been stupid enough to follow someone who was so full of hot air. Heck, even Davy Crockett knew when to shut up! In those days a liar was worse than a thief!

They're still in the throes of blind, swooning rapture, toes curled and eyes rolled back. And that's just the Press!
