I thought it woud be important for any future potential buyers to read this before they take the plunge through them.

I placed my order on 25 November and it had a 6 week period before your order got shipped out. I ordered a Cold Blooded Fleece and a Cold Fusion Tactical Jacket. It is now 24 February and I have yet to get my order. When I last talked to Scott (the owner) which was about a month ago he told me that my fleece was almost done and my softshell was not in production because they ran out of fabric.

You can log in on their website and under your account information, they have a "Order Status" which is clearly only computer generated depending on the parameters of when the shipping date is. My jackets have been in "Post Production" which is suppose to only last from one to five days. My order status has been in "Post Production" since 12 January.

I have approximately called them 8 or so times and I have only reached a Scott once. Many times it would goto the answering service and also their mailbox for the answering service would be full. I left a message but it took them 2 and a half weeks to reply. They replied by email instead of phone...

I sent a couple of emails. My last email was sent on 23 January...they replied on 23 February.

Least to say their customer service sucks. So unless you guys want to get the run around from Beyond and get crappy customer service, they will suit the bill.

If I could do it all over again, I would have gone with TAD Gear or Arcteryx Leaf line.

*UPDATE*

I got a hold of Scott on the phone and told me he will email me back on the status of my order. I just recieved the email and he says both jackets are complete and will offer me a 12% discount.

That sucks dude. My Beyond Cold...something, jacket showed up without a problem in about 8 weeks. Maybe they are swamped since they recently picked up the contract for the PCU?

At least they will give you a discount.
Anyhow, sucks to hear that you've been waiting since November.

$145 for a BDU Jacket? Sorry, no.

Yeah, you're right. I just went to their website and it looks like all their prices have gone up tremendously. Their baseline jackets without mods used to be able to compete with a TAD gear jacket, but not anymore. The jacket I bought last year for $330 now costs $450 with the same mods.

I ordered a set of utilities a couple of years ago and got them reasonably quickly. For what it's worth, they also make custom stuff for the military that's not shown in their catalog. I suspect they're in a similar boat to Crye - they've grown quickly and no longer have the infrastructure to support their client base. I liked dealing with them, and I hope they improve.

I have a couple of Beyond custom jackets.....of course I was one of their early customers, so my wait time was minimal. I have been nothing less than 100% satisfied with the final product.

Unfortunately, right now, ALL custom gear is taking longer and longer to get out to the end users. Looking at the lag times for other companies that I deal with (and in some cases still have outstanding orders waiting to be filled-Boathouse, TruWest, CSM Gear, etc-I am coming up on 16 weeks for some pieces), everyone is taking a long time to get custom gear turned around. My guess is that the demad is so great right now for custom stuff, that you have to wait if you aren't going to buy off the shelf.

Custom shops don't work especially fast. That is the unfortunate part of going custom and not just buying the mass produced off the shelf stuff.

I finally got my jackets the other day. Couple negative things I've noticed so far.

There needs to be clothed zipper pulls on all the zippers as the accessory zipper pulls are very small and will probably be kind of difficult to use them with gloves....I will be adding some paracord onto them.

I also noticed that the main zipper pull and the internal pocket zipper pull seems to be not as rugged or sturdy as some other jackets. The last two pictures will show you what I mean. A positive about the zippers is that they are all YKK.

There is no mesh lining in the pitzips...not sure if its negative but all my other jackets that have pitzips have a mesh lining.

No hanger loops on the jackets.

Positives so far.

Fit is perfect.

Water resistance is excellent...beads right off like gortex. Reminder that it is not waterproof.

Stitching is very good. Not many loose threads.

It was a bit windy today and the soft shell kept me warm and blocked the wind. I have yet to try the fleece outdoors.

On a side note, the desert khaki color looks a bit shiney. And all my other soft shells have velcro closure on the wrists, while this one is just elastic.

As mentioned above about the internal zipper pull and how it looks less than rugged. I took a look at the fleece and it has the standard zipper pull that is used throughout both jackets. Looks like either they ran out of zipper pulls or overlooked this part. :fork:

Seraphim,
interesting pics thanks for feedback on their product.

Suigenesis, you mention Beyond Tactical got the PCU contract. Are ReadyOne no longer the approved manufacturers?

Beyond provides the entire PCU under contract to odd sized folks. Ready One still has a contract for certain levels.
