A shooting in downtown during the International Freedom Festival fireworks display on Wednesday night left one person dead and several others wounded, according to local broadcast reports.
A police spokesman reached by The Associated Press couldn't immediately confirm the reports.

Television stations WJBK, WDIV and WXYZ reported that one of the shooting victims died. Several others were taken to a local hospital, they reported, for treatment and ambulances were seen leaving the scene.

After the shooting, police converged on the scene of the shooting and people in the crowd pushed to get out of the way. Police were investigating and worked to clear the area of crowds, which were heavy due to the annual fireworks display.

Damn, I love Michigan and Detroit but Jesus christ Detroit has really become a cess pool of ****. They wonder why people are leaving in droves to move to other "SAFER" places. If they were smart they would do what NYC did and try and get rid of the crack houses and gang bangers. Hell, really all Detroit needs is the mafia to move in. Look at Chicago and NYC, much nicer and safer than Det.

There is pretty much no mob left in NYC. Its all in Jersey. They have organized crime, but its mostly just a bunch of russians in Brooklyn stripping cars and selling the parts overseas.
NYC is safer cus Giulliani cracked down so hard on crime, and cleaned up the city.
Plus he had all the homeless ppl moved to NJ :D

I got a job in Detroit fresh out of college 6 years ago, I lasted all of one year before I found something else and got the hell out of there. Kidnapping, car jackings, Shame I had to sleep with a gun under my pillow :|
My cousin has been a cop there for almost 30 years but hay he carries an AR-15 to work with him :lol:

Hey, Compton isn't THAT bad anymore. Ever since they disbanded the corrupt Compton PD and contracted with LA County Sheriffs. ;)

Course...a few weeks after that happened, the Mayor and three of the five members of the city council of Compton were arrested on drug charges. :roll:
