I was reading up on the assault weapons ban.

I was wondering if the M1A is considered to be an assault rifle/weapon?

And, if one can still purchase the M1A if the ban is reinstated?

Lastly, if you are a member of the CMP or have special licenses, does the ban still apply to you?

The M1A is Cali legal so i dont think so, but you never know what they throw intto the imaginary "Assault Weapons" class.
