First off, the government in the UK cannot get a hold of anyone in the US Treasury so that they can coordinate Policy.

He has a reputation for being the archetypal senior civil servant professional, unflappable, and, above all, discreet.
But Sir Gus O’Donnell risked sparking a transatlantic tiff today with an imprudent remark about Downing Street’s relations with the White House.
The head of the civil service, Sir Gus said the handover to President Barack Obama’s administration was severely hindering preparations for next month’s G20 summit.
In an extraordinary blunder, the usually-guarded Sir Gus said no-one in the U.S. Treasury department was answering telephone calls.
He said it meant the Government was finding it ‘unbelievably difficult’ to hold discussions ahead of the meeting of world leaders in London.

And then there is the fact that 17 of 18 appointments in the Treasury have not been filled by Obama appointments.

Compounding the strain on the Treasury, almost all the top posts beneath Mr. Geithner are still vacant. Though he has hired about 50 senior advisers — about half the number he hopes to recruit — the White House has become so worried about potential tax problems and other issues in the backgrounds of candidates that it has nominated only a handful of people.

What? Are there not Big Government Democrats out there who pay their taxes so they can fill these rolls? Or does Geithner keep appointing "Senior Advisers" to get around Confirmation Hearings?

Only #1 on this list has been filled.

No golden parachutes and a job that has a high risk of becoming a blot on the resume? Hmm, decisions, decisions....

Hey, they used to leave Treasury and go to the big banks and hedge funds. Now, I guess with banks and the market the way it is, they can't leave the public sector and go get filthy stinking rich any more!

Federal agents this morning are searching the office Washington, D.C.'s Chief Technology Officer.

I think it's becoming very evident that Obama is simply not up the job. He's a great campaigner and great at throwing around vacuous, feel-good phrases but when it comes time to actually be an executive officer and govern, he's proving to be terribly inept.

I hate to even say it but I'm forced to admit that even Hillary Clinton would have made a better president.

Please, WHY?

I read the Daily Mail for years then switched over to the Daily Express, should I have read the Guardian instead?

Or maybe the Sport?

Yes. I'm feeling bad about all the times I thought how horrible it would be if she was elected President! If she had been, at least she'd have old Bubba to help her or give us some comic relief!

This is the perfect example of, "Watch what you wish for..."

Of course, when they were beating up Bush over Plame and the whole WMB fiasco, I bet they were an unimpeachable example of the highest journalistic standards! :|

I heard about the "treasury fiasco" on the BBC World Service and read about it in The Economist Online. It's hardly an Official Secret...
