Costco is a great shot, he won the class shoot off, especially when we had a written test and he did not score very well on it..come to think of it, none of us scored well... I got like 3 out of 15 questions.....LOL.

Costa and his awesome CQB-R with the KAC muzzle brake suppressor adapter. Usually the gun would be shot with the suppressor, but for dramtic effect, the can was removed for photo op.

He's got that crazy, almost overhand grip going on with his non-firing hand. Some of my friends went to a Tiger Swan course and that's how they taught them to shoot as well. I've never tried it but it looks awkward.

Not speaking for him, but that's a grip popular with 3-gun shooters. It's actually a stable posture that allows for relatively quick follow up shot.

I did...but not to my liking, the idea is to drive the gun down and better control the recoil...Costa shot very fast and on target every time he pull the trigger....I kind of use a more LAV style grip more forward grip using the vertical grip as a cupping/hand stop...the more closer you have grip of the gun, the better you have control of the recoil, like gripping a garden hose, the closer you grip the nozzle, the better control you have with the spray..you can see the triple burst from him and that is him shooting semi..
Everything Costa did was very aggressive, he drive the gun to target with intend and aggression.. I am always in awe watching shoot or talking about shooting. I look forward to a Magpul dynamics class later this year..
Another shooter with similar grip...

Looks like two guys are gonna give you (the other fat guy) a butt whippin' in a about two weeks.
One advantage of the AR platform is weight and recoil. Allowing positions when recoil and weight needs not be as controlled or reduced to make a accurate shot. Down side, those positions are poor for the higher power rifles. (more weight and recoil)

Interesting. I'll have to give it a go next time I'm at the range. I pulled out one of my ARs and gave it try and it does seem a little easier to hold the weapon on target. I'm just not used to the grip I guess. I normally put my TD stubby as far out as it will go and use the thumb on non-dominant side grip.

Well I'm not Lee, but after getting some time w/ Costa, I tried it. I like it, I have my vertical grip a little bit more forward then most and that helps as a bump stop for my hand.
I found that is made me more accurate when shooting on the move. More control over the weapon.
Costa's - dual light setup had me laughing at first, until my light burned out in training. Now I'm debating that setup as well.

Great shots, Chen. As always thanks for posting. The second photo in the KAC shoot is a great example of the differences in the locked support wrist & thumb grip and a more standard grip. I have tried both and for shooting a course of fire the locked thumb/wrist is great, but for holding a hallway or a corner in a more tactical arena I find the closer vert grip to be more advantageous. It also may be my preference because it is more familiar.

Ted did some great work at the range, he is now registered on MP.net, maybe he will start to share some of his other on assignment in sand box pics with us.

His hand positions overall and the angle in his joints seems something I couldn't physically do, let alone shoot and hit with. Certainly pretty unorthodox hand positions/grip.

Chris' shooting and his stance are very deliberate... he power each of his movement from target to target, it is not machine like with pluses, but very fluid with force and speed, he controls his movement like clock work... I think in order for me to shoot like him....well... first of all, not possible, second.. I would have to be shooting few thousand rounds per week in order to achieve his performance. he was definitely the terminator of the LAV class that wekend...

What does spending 30$ a month on a gym have to do with being in shape? I thought most guys went to gyms simply for all the hot guy ass that was around.

"Strenght has to weigh" as we used to say here among the 200+ pound shooters ;-)

What is this obession about weight lately? So now instead of taking pic, I have to go find a freaking model so no one would talk ****?

Pretty much the same reason I hack anyone in my team/section that has a sh*t locker hanging over their gut. A fit troop is a live troop......
That's not to say that anyone with a gut cant shoot. I have no doubt in my mind that Mr Vickers can shoot like damned but in a rush to move to an engagment (or from an engagment) I am willing to bet I am the faster guy.
I have met some big old boys on the range who can hit a fly at xxx yards but that does'nt mean they are a deployably ready soldier...but they some were sure dressed up like it ;)

I think in LAV's case, he deserve to relax a bit, for as much he has done for the free world...he deserve it..
me, in another case, I am not deploying nor am I going to run out and fight any time soon... :)
LAWB.....model for free ammo? how about free scotch?

When one is young, it is much easier to stay in shape. When older and the hard living gets tough, one still has experience to pass on. The body gets worn out but,the mind is still strong. Joints and bones wear out.Trust me younsters.p-)

Crap! Hmm theres a group here that trains PMC's for Afghanistan and other destination I belive the class for a Civvie is USD5000. They have their own range right next to the range I go shooting at. I'll have to check it out. Some claim they are former SF operators from the US and AUS.
Oh, C.T.U is the name of that org.
