View Full Version : * Photos offline for about a day *
Well, I can say with good certainty that the Gallery app that I was using for the photo albums doesn't work well on Windows. It's fine if people are just viewing pictures, but when people go to upload it all goes to hell. I'm converting the whole thing over to Linux which I've had great luck with in the past.
Now for the mildly bad news. Anyone who registered in the photos section is going to have to do it again when it's back up. So as to guarantee that there's no corruption of files carried over, I need to do the conversion with the clean backup copy from last week. Thanks for everyone's patience with this.
With luck, if Allah wills it, if Jesus blesses it, and/or if the Linux gods are upon me, we'll be able to get something really big going here.

The galleries don't have any limits actually.. the email restriction stuff is just for the forums. I found it funny however that the Asian guy (I'm guessing) who kept posting all that racist anti-Chinese banter a while back on the forums already tried 5 times to get an account in the photo gallery. They just don't quit. :)

I tried to apply for one of those acounts and it came up with an error...
Should I only apply for it again if I have actual military pictures, or can I use it to host other pics I post (ie: Photoshopped images)
When I get it back up and running and can confirm that upload pictures is working correctly and doesn't keep causing big errors, then we can open it up to whatever you want.

Just curious. When should one block out faces? I'm doing BMQ and SQ this summer and will take some pics when I'm in the field. I assume I should block out everyone but my owns face, out of privacy?

More for the protection of the operators. They need to remain anonymous for their safety and so not to jeopardize them in the field...

The best thing to do is ask the people you're photographing if they care that you're putting their pictures on the internet, and if they care about doing the black bars thing. That way you cover all bases, but don't have to mess with the black bars if they don't care.

Oh well. Not that it matters anymore. Assholes at CFRC can't forward my file to my unit, so I can't get kitted up so I can't go. Bunch of beauracratic morons.
