N Korea 'renews nuclear threat'
Washington wants the North's nuclear facilities dismantled
North Korea has threatened to test a nuclear device if compensation demands are not met, senior US officials say.
The threat was made on Thursday during a meeting on the sidelines of the six-nation talks between the US, the two Koreas, China, Russia and Japan.
The US officials said Pyongyang had made similar threats before, adding that the talks were mainly useful.
North Korea has reportedly demanded massive energy aid in exchange for freezing its main facility at Yongbyon.
The sides discussed a US proposal to allow other countries to supply the aid if North Korea agreed to dismantle suspected nuclear programmes.
