'Migrants coming to Britain will have to pay an"immigration tax" to help communities cope, but it could be as little as £20 each, as part of plans to make newcomers earn their stay.'

Interesting development. Will there be a different fee for Commonwealth members?

Dont be daft. The tax is for commonwealth types. Everyone else gets in free on the asylum bus.

Is England ever going to be sensible? Government is really being a control freak, Fee this, Fee that. makes it really annoying to live there apparently. everything's such a bother, seems people can be bothered to complain either.

Bingo, that about sums up half the people who post on these type of threads.

This thing started because Peterborough council had a huge influx of immigrants, mainly from eastern Europe (10% population), Portugal, Iraq and Afghanistan........the news earlier showed 26 languages in one school class. The tax is proposed to help the council pay for the burden the extra people have on services, schools, waste disposal etc. They're not all on benefits, most are hard working and make their contributions like the rest of us

No, no, no you have it all wrong, there is nothing wrong with British people everything is because of the damn foreigners. Those damn chavs near my house I bet they come from somewhere else.
