no ,u wrong.....do not only focus on its surface

Maybe some other weapons copy from US, but this one doesn't
One question....who can tell me about its underpan?

Permskii, you have to remember that just because a tank resembles another doesn't mean it's a copy. There are many tried and tested formats in armor sloping and design that needn't be change just to be "original."

The hull looks more like a copy of a T-84, the main gun doesn't appear to be much of a copy of the M1 IMHO.

I bet a lot of the mechanics arn't exactly original either...

I'd feel safer and more dangerous in a M1A2 SEP or Leo 2A6!!!

OMG. It has a turret. And a cannon. Oh, and LOOK, there's a machine gun on top as well. Wow, they definately copied it from somewhere.

No offense, but if there's any real resemblance - it's not obvious.

Oh, and I'll eat my socks if you made that post as a joke...

it's more similar to the T80 than an M1 (i really don't see any simlarities to the Abrams) the gun is a copy of the 125mm smoothbore that the T72 T80 series use so is the hull, but hey can't fault the chinese for that most of their stuff is heavily influenced by Russian tech. But it does have a different powerpack, electronics and turret design..,overall a neat looking design, of course the real acid test will be combat, hopefully that never will happen

I'd like to see more stuff on it's stabilization system, fire-control computer, thermal imaging, and other hi-tech doohickeys......

But hey...I'm just a dumb grunt...all I need is something simple to point at it to kill it with while I'm hiding in the bush minding my own business ;)

The tank looks good and seems good, but can it actually perform undercombat situation?

Had this type of tank been sold to other countries where they saw combat?

still it has old russian 125mm smothbore gun with not scaled ammo so HEAT penetrators will be shorter than penetrators from 120mm scaled ....

Mainly because Permskii started this, I would like to contribute to the very original designs of certain nations. Lets take the Soviet Union/Russia for one. The Mig-29 and the Su-31 have the same design and body as the F-14 and the F-15. The Buran Space shuttle is designed after the American space shuttle. The Yak-38, is based upon the BAe Harrier T.Mk 4.

The Chinese like many militaries have taken a design and are improving upon it and adding their own tweaks and specifications. After all there are only so many different designs.

Isn't this http://geta-o.maxs.jp/LATEST/2002-11/2002-11-02/LY-LJK(XX)SU-31-7710.jpg
The Su-31???
nothing like F-14 or F-15...

Then the F-15 is actually more similar to the MiG-25 than the MiG-29... and the MiG-25 is older... hmm...
The Yak-38 uses the same engine configuration as in the Yak-41/141 which in turn was bought by Boeing or something and is used in the F-35... the Harrier has a considerably different engine configuration.. i.e. only one RR pegasus, instead of the Two in the Yaks...

And the original Buran was supposed to look very different from the american shuttle, but was changed for political reasons?..

they're actually heavily modified T-72's.

http://military.szm.sk/fgaleria/t72.jpg
look at the front fenders.
the interior is very much similar to a T-72, but with new stuff for the commander and gunner, which essentially makes it a completely new tank.

Xingbake

The Type 98 is the latest development of China’s main battle tanks (MBTs) and represents ain increase in firepower, mobility and protection. The tank was first revealed to the public in October 1999, and is reported to have entered service with the PLA in a small number for operational test and evaluation before the design is finalised. An improved variant features new explosive reaction armour and Leopard 2 A6-style additional reinforcement to the turret frontal armour with externally mounted add-on armour modules

dejawolf
06-26-2004, 10:07 AM
indeed, but it still retains the autoloader of the T-72, as well as the post-penetration vulnerability.
noting wrong with the autoloader, (maybe a bit slow)
but having the interior completely incinerated, with the result of the turret flying several meters into the sky in a quite spectacular explosion, isn't going to do anyone inside any good.

but the new armour would certainly help.
if the frontal armour is even close to the leopard 2A5/A6 it's more than enough to stop any round currently fielded, at any range.
minimizing the chance of the turret popping to around zero.

The F-35 is based on the Yak-141 ... so?? Mig-29 and the Su-31 doesnt have any thing to do with the F-14 or F-15 ..
