I think she is right, the army on the streets will not solve the problem and in the long run might make things worst. As long as there is not real change in the society and government of both countries, especially Mexico, things will not improve.

Having lived in Mexico for 2 years, and still a property owner I am very concerned.
"We are far, far away from home. Our home is far, far away from us." And that's how it feels to live in Mexico during these turbulent times: far from democratic normalcy; far from the rule of law; far from home and close to everything that imperils it. Always on the lookout, anxious, suspicious of our own shadow. Invaded by the legitimate fear of walking on the street after dark, taking money out of an ATM, hopping into a cab, being stopped by a corrupt policeman, receiving the call of a kidnapper saying that he has taken your child, losing a son, burying a daughter. My home has become a place where too many people die, gunned down by a drug-trafficker, or assaulted by a robber,
This sums it up for me!!! I want it to all go away. I want to be able to keep going to Mexico and enjoy my second home and all the wonderful people of Mexico that I know and love, and the Mexico that I know and love!
I want Mexico to make progress on the drug war and hope and pray all the bloodshed will be over come by a global effort on the war on drugs!!
I also want to thank each and every member in the Armed Forces all over the world for they're sacrifices!!!!

Maybe one day, unfortunately that day might not come soon enough.

Well, said!! I yearn mightily for the peaceful days when you could wander alone through that country for days, perfectly at peace and sharing that wonderful sense of hospitality and close family that is so much part of Mexico.
