Like I said, AIG is a non-issue. New York doesn't even rank.

DC is not a State.
It would be good to see the income distribution of DC.

As Ordie says, And being Pedantic, D.C. aint a State It's Budget comes from the Feds.
The reason for the High income is the number Of Lobbyists living there no doubt

That chart looks screwy to me. I tried looking at the methodologies they used to generate it...it's net income after taxes for one thing, so the various tax rates play into it. Also there's some kind of adjustment made for people who work in one place and live in another...but they don't tell you what that adjustment is. I think what they did was to look at the payrolls of companies in those locations then hashed against how many people live there...so I'd think in a place like DC, where so many people work there but don't live there, it may throw the numbers off. I don't know. Still, it's interesting.

so 7 states out of 50 increased and the others either stayed same or got worse ??
I'm hoisting the BS Flag on that list. DC is not a place you want to live. Godawful schools, violent gangs running amuck, and projects among projects. The Federal District and museums are the only things worth seeing. Maryland and Virginia suburbs on the other hand are very well off.

I'd be happy to live in NW DC anytime.

Sure, if you live in Trinidad or Anacostia.
