as civilian you cant buy and own hard plates in Italy
if you're .mil then you'll be issued them.
also 99% of the shop/manufacturers will sell only to LEO or .Mil

it's hard to train with AR15 since only 5 and 10 rounds mags are legal

i do tactical training using the vest to carry mags , in cooperative with other guys.
plates are realy not necessary.. but .. u know..live ammo are live ammo....
all the istructors have it.. so..
If you had a genuine reason, you would be able to buy the stuff and export from the UK

If you're in the military, I don't think there is limitation on buying ballistic plates from within the European Union.
As a civilian, there might be a problem with the law.

i've been told by various police and carabinieri officers, that if you are caught with hard armour you will get quite a lot of problems, as it seems that law restricts hard armour to Le and military with some exceptions for journalists, which can own it when they can prove that they need it for their work in dangerous countries, even kevlar helmets are off limits...

it seems that soft armour is allowed. i've been told this things by a carabinieri captain and some maresciallis (nco), but other say there are various interpretations of the law...

soft armor are good to go.
just think at the "guardie giurate"...they can get them for their work without problems and they're not .mil or LEO; they are just civilians.
as I said before hard plates are not allowed.

ahaahh here in italy every law is "interpretable"... so i can may ask police, and they say yes.. then ask carabinieri..and they say no...
so if soft armour is allowed, i can start with a ricas with soft plates..
then i ll look for hard plates somewhere..
