This is my rifle.

There are many like it, but this one is MINE.

My rifle is my best friend. It is my life.

I must master it as I must master my life.

My rifle without me is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless.

I must fire my rifle true.

I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me.

I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will...

My rifle and myself know that what counts in war is not the rounds we fire,

the noise of our bursts, nor the smoke we make.

We know it is the hits that count. We will hit...

My rifle is human, even as I, because it is my life.

Thus, I will learn it as a brother.

I will learn its weaknesses, its strengths, its parts, its accessories,
its sights, and its barrel.

I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage.

I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready.

We will become part of each other. We will...

Before God I swear this creed.

My rifle and myself are the defenders of my country.

We are the masters of our enemy.

We are the saviors of my life.

So be it, until there is no enemy, but PEACE.

;)

Its probably a prayer or something personal.

It ain't a scope, it's a reflex sight ( I think it's an Aimpoint, but I am no expert on this subject).
For better results it's necessary to put it as far away as you can on the barrel.

Your right, its an aimpoint. Its not a reflex(not in my books anyway, eotech/trijicons/kobras, etc are reflec sights imo), but a red-dot sight. It is not necessary to have it that far down the barrel either, itl work jsut the same up close to the shooters eye. It makes no difference, its all down to shooter preference.

You just dont like change...digital is the way of the future. The new Army Combat Uniforms is pretty much CADPAT and MARPAT. Except now the ranks will be on the chest like in Canadian troops.

Although change is hard to bear for me it is true (sometimes), in the case of the new army uniform I love the idea of digital patterns and they work great! MARPAT AND CADMAT are world class badd uniforms now...

My only opinion was the Japanese have a very cool camouflage that could've been a good "inspiration" for a new US Army pattern even though it is NOT digital.

The color sheme and patterns seem to work very well and it still would resemble the old Woodland BDU which I will miss, but does need to go.

There you go. ;)
