Is anyone familiar with the last U.S. unit/units, and/or services to regularly issue and use the M-1 Steel Pot Helmet? Thanks.
Also, I've got an old steel pot that I found in my attic that I would like to restore. It's an early 80's model M-1, and I was just wondering if there would still be a cache of spare parts from which to draw upon for it's restoration. I've found plenty of stuff online, but each M-1 from each era used different suspension, covers, etc. I'm even thinking of maybe getting one from each era if this project turns out well. I really have a soft spot in my heart for this helmet. It's still THE "American Helmet" to me. Anyone else of a similar ilk?
