(CNN) -- One person was killed and three others were wounded during a shooting at a religious retreat Tuesday at a campground in Southern California, CNN television affiliate KABC said.

The shooting near the city of Temecula was reported about 7:23 p.m. (10:23 p.m. ET), said Sgt. Dennis Gutierrez, public information officer for the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Gutierrez did not offer many details about the shooting, saying officers had problems getting information because of a language barrier.

The retreat was for a Korean group, Gutierrez said. Police thought the shooter was one of the people injured, he added. Those wounded were in critical condition.

"Everybody was shot," Gutierrez said. "This apparently was a religious retreat. There are some ladies here who appear to be nuns who are very distraught about what just occurred here."

Why the sudden rise/ media sensationalism about shootings? trying to press the public into gun control?

more important questions. why all the sudden, consecutive back to back shootings?

3 months ago, nobody gave a crap about shootings. But now, the media is going nuts.

Could be an increase in shootings with multiple victims. Could also be more of an increase in reporting.

If every violent crime that occurred was reported in the news then noone would leave their house.

The media's routine short term obsessiveness will die off soon.

maybe you think since people aren't really buying the Mexican problem...they now start running these more often...I hate to say its a stretch...but either way, RIP to the victim, smooth recovery for the rest, and hang the a$$hole high for trying to set us all back 300 years...

The increase in reporting is no surprise... it's a push to promote future legislation.

It happened with the gas prices. Media created hype over gas prices brought a rise in popularity of the environmental wackos... Gas prices are now down (not far enough) and the media could care less.

Economy and job problems highly publicized... Gov taking over portions of private sector, media laying off.

Now for the guns.

Now for the guns.Yes & no... information comes faster than ever.... however multiple shootings like the past 2 months are not the norm.

You cant even begin to argue this is the norm... it's not.
