Egypt detains Palestinians, finds TNT near Gaza

EL-ARISH, Egypt (*******) - Egyptian police detained three teenage Palestinian men Wednesday on suspicion of crossing illegally into Egypt and also found explosives near the border with Gaza, security sources said.

Tuesday, Egypt tightened security on its border with Israel to prevent illegal crossings after authorities detained 25 men Egypt said were linked to the Lebanese Shi'ite group Hezbollah and who were plotting attacks in Egypt.

Police detained the three men, aged 16 to 18, in a dawn raid in the town of Sheikh Zweid, near the border with Gaza, the sources said.

Hizbullah will pay "a heavy price" for what Egypt alleges were attempts to carry out terror attacks inside the country, an Egyptian official was quoted by a local paper as saying on Wednesday.

Cairo and Hizbullah have been on a collision course since last week, when Egyptian security forces arrested 49 people accused of plotting to carry out attacks against tourists in the Sinai Peninsula.

The investigation carried out by the Egyptians even resulted in fire exchanges between Egyptian officers and Sinai Beduin when the officers wanted to search the Beduin's residence for Hizbullah terrorists on Monday night.
