CNN Presents is running a show tonight called Fit to Kill. It's on at 9pm I believe. It goes into the psychological impact of killing combat and how men are trained to be able to do it and deal with it.

CNN sucks. The only redeeming thing is the footage the show.

I saw it and i thought it was rediculous... all it did as far as im concerned is attempt to fuel the belief that our soldiers are baby killing monsters who kill everything and everyone in their path.

WTF!?? No it showed the reality of war, I'm sorry if you think all soldiers do is sing on the back of a 5 ton truck and share cigarettes with each other. :cantbeli: War is nasty there is no noble knight in shining armor. While at war, you become a killer (well if your on the front) it's not nice at all. Programs like this need to be played more, maybe the population would actualy know what it means to go to war then.
I really liked how they adressed the issue of the exitement and almost enjoyment of killing a man. Usually people over-look this subject because it does not fit with the knight in shining armor image the media likes to portray.

If you don't mind the leftist bull**** slant they always give their footage. There's been a few lengthy discussions about bad editing to make our troops look bad without giving the whole story.
And don't get me started on their "we need gun control because of this..." segment. (Which, IIRC, they had to publically apologize for)

cnn doesn't portay the night in shining armor... they portay horrible murderers who are fighting for this evil man named george bush who's killing people for oil kuz he wants more money, eventhoug hes not getting any of it directly, and these nasty american soldiers are dying fighting these freedom fighters who only want their country back...
no... i think we all know war is a bitch, but its not like theres blood splattered on walls constantly, or people dying every 5 seconds, nor is it common place to have your friend in the service killed. this war is one of the most peaceful wars of its size.
if the media shows more things like this documentary.. then they should also show more documentarys on the anfal campaign, september 11th, nazi invasion of poland, concentration camps for the "final solution" the genocide in rowanda, the slaughter of cambodians... i'll just stop, i think you get the idea.

Seen more combat than you. And he served his country. Just because he was afraid of what he saw in himself doesn't make him a monster.
And the show doesn't portray Soldiers are monsters either. It shows the reality of killing and the reality of combat. It's one of those things that has to be done in War and it's a damn easy thing to do but sometimes the experience can affect you. American Soldiers ARE knights in shining armor as far as I'm concerned and that episode only reinforced my view of that.

I saw parts of it. The impression I got was that it was portraying the soldiers of victims of their leaders' decisions. I guess I can see that. Like I said though, only saw parts.
