Hello Haiw I saw you mentioned me (woodland!) But welcome to the furom and goodluck when you join the military, It will straighten you out son! Heres some info for you.
The Netherlands armed forces carry out a number of their tasks outside the Netherlands. Some of these deployments go on over several years, while others are much shorter. The nature of the operations differs as well. Sometimes it involves keeping the peace, other times providing humanitarian help or using force to impose peace. Equally diverse is the number of Dutch troops that are involved in deployments. That ranges from a handfull for some operations to more than a thousand military personnel for others.
At the moment, 2.367 troops are on foreign deployment in the following countries:
(figures as of 16th of July 2003)
1.030 military personnel in the Balkan region, including:
1.021 troops in Bosnia (SFOR)
5 military personnel in Kosova (HQ KFOR, EUMM)
4 military personnel in Macedonia (OCSCE)
525 military personnel as the stabilisation force in the Irak region:
9 military personnel in Al Muthanna
12 military personnel in Basra
5 military personnel in Tallil
1 military personnel in Baghdad
498 military personnel in Kuwait
798 troops in operations related to the international fight against terrorism, including:
Enduring Freedom:
5 military personnel in the United States (HQ Central Command)
167 military personnel in Kirgizstan (F-16)
1 military personnel in Bagram, Afghanistan
1 military personnel in Bahrein
2 military personnel in Qatar
and ISAF:
608 military personnel in Afghanistan (ISAF)
14 military personnel in Germany (Potsdam)
12 military personnel in the Middle East (UNTSO)
1 military personnel in Moldavia (OSCE)
1 military personnel in France (OHQ Paris)
There are, in addition, currently units designated as strategic reserve. These can be deployed rapidly:
4 military personnel also fot SFOR (5 days response time)
14 military personnel for ISAF III (Afghanistan) http://www.defensie.nl/home/pictures/6948.jpg
