Iran: We've arrested spies for Israel
By JPOST.COM STAFF AND AP (editors@jpost.com)

Iranian authorities have arrested a group of people linked to Israel who are suspected of planning bombings ahead of the Islamic Republic's June presidential election, ******* cited the country's intelligence minister as saying on Sunday.

"A group of deceived elements ... who wanted to carry out explosions, particularly before the June election, was arrested," Intelligence Minister Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei was quoted by Iranian radio as saying.

State radio did not say how many people had been arrested or give any other details.

Iran often accuses Israel and the United States, its two arch foes, of seeking to undermine the Islamic Republic.

Last year, an Iranian businessman was hanged after he was convicted of spying on the military for the Jewish state.Article continued at http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost/JPArticle/ShowFull&cid=1239710792370

is this the iranian way of thinking?

"subject matter A" = "working against iran".

"Israel" = "working against iran"

hence

"Subject matter A" = "Israel"

can there even be one wrong thing in iran which is not linked to Israel or the US?

:cantbeli:We Europeans have the Nazi card that can be played out against others, I guess the "Israeli Spy"-card is just their version of it.

I dont doubt the israelis intention to have the means to fvck with iran and especially intelligence. .. but this sounds like typical propaganda of the funniest type. Maybe they really did catch people for that crime, but Iran has more enemies than israel and us, both domestic and external.

I don’t see the same kind remarks when Israel claims to have arrested people spying for Iran , why is that? Its clear that both sides are extremely paranoid right now and are in some cases arresting people who have no connection with spying .

Could you link me to Israel claiming it had arrested people accused of spying for Iran? And to be quite blunt, if Mossad was spying in Iran, Iran would be the last to know.

Iranian-born Israeli Sentenced as Spy for Tehran By VOA News
26 April 2009

An Israeli court has sentenced an Iranian-born Israeli to four years in prison on charges of spying for the Islamic republic.

Court officials said Sunday that the defendant delivered classified information to Iranian agents in Turkey.

They did not identify the accused, and Iran has not commented on the sentencing.

Also Sunday, Iran said authorities have arrested a group of people linked to Israel who were planning a series of bombings ahead of the country's June presidential elections.

Iran's state media quoted Intelligence Minister Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei as saying that those arrested were "deceived elements" linked to "Zionist" elements. He also accused "the Zionist regime" of seeking to use "anti-revolutionaries" in Iran for "evil ends."

Iran often refers to Israel as "the Zionist regime" and does not recognize it as a sovereign state. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has called for Israel's destruction.

Tensions between the two countries have been on the rise. Last week at a United Nations racism conference, the Iranian leader called Israel a "cruel and repressive racist regime" for its treatment of the Palestinians.

Israeli officials have not ruled out preventive military action to force Iran to stop its uranium enrichment program. The United States and Israel both fear Tehran's enrichment activities could be used to make nuclear weapons.

Iran says its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes, such as generating electricity.

Some information for this report was provided by AFP and *******.

So an Israeli has been arrested for spying in Israel, and passing info on to Iranian agents in Turkey, and has been sentenced to 4 years?

there's a little thing called "freedom of the press".
Iran doesnt have it, so news articles from it's government controlled agencies dont get much credit.

Did you read the article or did you make up your mind before you read the article . Because if you actually read the article without being biased you would know it started and IRANIAN-ISRAELI citizen . Not that it matters much since you asked me to post a link about Israelis arresting people for spying for Iran and I did . If you like , I can post more articles about others in Israel who have been accused of spying for Iran to show you that its not just Iran arresting people for spying for Israel.

If this is how you respond to a thanks, I don't see many more coming your way. I asked a question, you answered it, I said thanks.

What exactly are you talking about? It clearly said an Israeli was arrested for spying. Are you implying that an Iranian born Israeli is somehow inferior to another kind, or suspicious by their very nature? No offense man, but that is a little racist. What's wrong with people of Iranian descent?

There seems to be a misunderstanding . I thought you were either being sarcastic by saying “ thanks, nice catch” or that you were implying the article I posted was some how irrelevant because the person who was arrested was “Israeli” and only got 4 years in jail. Anyways , I apologize if I offended you but to answer your question , I don’t think people who are of Iranian decent are inferior. All people are created equal , religion , nationality or political beliefs shouldn’t make a person inferior to others.

Seraosha, I think Apadana simply misconstrued the gist of your post. That's all. I was a little surprised by it as well.

On an altogether different subject, I was wondering about the origin of your nick. Do you know what it means? Are you of Iranian or Parsi background?

Thanks
