Brasil has one of the toughest courses in the world.....i've seen a documentary about this course "Guerra na Selva" (War in the Jungle) were they had lots of hard SF people and all of them were having a REAL BAD TIME overthere.....they even had to do hours of night swimming in the Amazon river, at night, fully geared.....backpack and all....lots of shinning croc's eyes in the water too....

I'd like to see a full version video of this again.... :P

P.S: when i was in the Paras in Portugal, i had the pleasure to know a Angola Commando Seargent that passed the War in the Jungle course in Brasil....great guy that one.Small in size but tough as nails.... ;)

Our regiment comander, the Colonel Serveilles ( 3 REI, 1993) passed this course, and was more than a though guy, but it seems that the course really affected him, and he made the ralying cry of the regiment "SELVA". p-)

French forces in Guyana have sent officers and NCOs to the CIGS (4 to 6 a year) for over 20 years.
They are then used as jungle instructors in the Legion and Marine units in French Guyana.

I could finally access it, and it`s great, I really feel that we played it "easy" at regina compareds to the CIGS, for instance our stretcher run was "only" of 15 KM, and I was already a zombie when we finished.
So thinking that they do it on a 50 Km is sijmply crasy.

Salut Gilgoul ;)

I spent 17 days on the Approuague river in 1997. We've been inserted by a hovering civil Ecureuil neart its spring then paddled it down with our 3 Metzelers inflatable boats. It was a "reconn" trip to see the faisability of a new "adventure" tour for a specialized tour operator. They never made it because it was found to hard for the average tourist (too much portage, too difficults "sauts" to go through during the rain season) :D We met several times the Legion here and there along the trails and they found us a bit crazy hunting for (extra) food like the Garimperos...
