On the movie you can see an lucky policemen.
car has careered into a crowd of people near an open-top bus carrying Queen Beatrix, a Dutch royal family spokesperson told CNN.
The incident took place Thursday in the Dutch town of Apeldoorn during celebrations for the national holiday of Queen's Day.
2 deads, but rumours of a total of 4 deads.
Me English is not so good but it would be almoust an attack on the Royal Family.

Unless there was something in the car, there's little a coupe is going to do to a bus. Sure, the people (in this case the royal family) in the bus will be a bit shaken up, maybe lightly injured, but in all probability nothing serious.

I remember an incident a while ago in US, when a elderly person killed seven people. IIRC he forgot in what gear he was or something similar and slammed his car into the crowd. The point is, until the official investigation reviles its findings it's pretty pointless to make any speculations.

Despotism is a form of government by a single authority, either an individual or tightly knit group, which rules with absolute political power.
The Netherlands is a parliamentary democratic constitutional monarchy.
In other words, the queen has only symbolic power.

I knew that such a moronic comment would come up so I already prepared for it. So...
Of course it would have been a great advantage if the guards would have used a minigun to counter the attack. Then we would now have lot more dead and wounded because of the ricochets and such. Infact I'm actually happy this happend in Europe and not in the USA because here at least some of the policemen took care of the wounded instead of emptying their clips into the vehicle like it would have definetly been the case over there.
Now does everyone see why the SUV that escorts the US president has a minigun mounted on it?

From Article 92, Book of Penal Law:
Attack against the King
Any attack with the intent to kill, abduct or incapacitate the King, the reigning Queen(this would be Beatrix) or the Regent will be punished with imprisonment for life, a temporary term of thirty years, or a monetary fine of the fifth category.
From Article 108:
Attack on members Royal House
-1 Any attack on the life or freedom of the spouse of the King, the expected heir to the King, his or her spouse, will be punished by a prisonterm of no more than 15 years or a monetary fine of the fifth category.
-2 When the attack causes death, or was undertaken premeditated, it will be punished by inprisonment for life, a temporary prisonterm of thirty years, or a monetary fine of the fith category.
EDIT: They could also nail him for causing physical, heavy physical harm(either premeditated or not) Causing of Death, and Murder. Since he actually told police he did this on purpose, i guess he's pretty much screwed.

Will someone explain to me what this means? Why would a presumably middle-class white be so driven to commit such an act of terrorism?
RIP. Saw it on the news...
It should be considered as mental disorder problem.

RIP, really shocking to see this happen on live tv.
It's not good that the bastard died, he didn't deserve to come away with it so easily.
Many local festivals were cancelled because of this, no major events in Amsterdam were cancelled, which is logical because there where around 100,000 persons in the centre of A'dam.
Believe me, it were many more then 100.000 people :)

Read about "going postal". Social rage is very common thing, and sadly the border between imagined and real actions is too thin sometimes.
Rip to the victims,
this picture of small girl is heartbreaking. :|

Maybe a hundred thousand on the Museumplein, for the Radio 538 concert, but yeah many times that number in the whole city. Amsterdam is packed during Queens' Day.

Terrorism means deliberately harming large groups of a civilian population in order to invoke fear and paranoia.
She was royalty. This is an assassination.
Terrorism does not only have to do physical harm to a large mass of people. It merely has to through violent means create a psychological/political impact through violent means.
Assassination can fall under the realm of terrorism.
Well, according to Janet Neapolitano, head of DHS, white guys are about the only threats to peace and stability these days. Maybe he was a veteran who goes to church and votes conservative. That puts him just ahead of OBL in her book.
And how is that relevant to this incident?

I just hope that all this will not change the way things are done in our country.
End of the cycling monarchy?
A queen going places on her bike and allowing herself to be kissed by a passer-by when she is among her subjects: outside of the Netherlands people thought that a bit strange. So will the Orange family finally become an "ordinary" royal family?

It's a tragic incident, no doubt about that, but people are overdramatizing it a tad. If it didn't happen infront of a big crowd with lots of cameras, nobody would have given a damn and those deaths would have been another statistic.
You can't exactly call this a well planned assassination plot against the Queen. It's the result of a desperate madman doing something impulsive. You can assign a whole army to the protection of the Royal family, some lunatic can still run over a dozen people in a Suzuki Swift. These things just happen sometimes and there's not much you can do about them (except making sure blockades actually block). Saying how he has ruined Queen's Day forever and how we will have to live in fear is absurd. Next year people will be getting drunk as usual and this event will be remembered by a 30 second segment on the evening news. Move on, keep going.

Queens Day stays as it was.
Sources around the royal family report that the Queen and her family have no intention to yield to violence. They will apear in public like they allways have.
She will fully take part in the 4th and 5th of May events.

If I may comment on this, I have to say it's great to see the Queen show her backbone, as it should be.

A fairly liberal country, haha do you know a country thats more liberal than Holland?, at least we are lucky it wasnt a muslim extremist or else our national clown Geert Wilders would definatly become MP, and then the **** would really hit the fan.
But i am sure we will still celebrate queensday next year, our royal family is not a family that wants to hide in armoured cars, which is again made clear by the message that they will be there at the 4th and 5th of may.

after seen the footage the questions here are : how this guy managed to come so close of the royal bus
keep in mind that if he was a kamikaze with 500 kg of RDX in his car, he would have been close enough to vaporize the entire royal family
it is har dto say for the victims but i guess this event is a "cheap" warning for the security teams of the Royal members
anyway RIP to the innocents

500 Kg of RDX? Dude, i'd be surprised if a Swift weighs more than 800 kg. I doubt it can lug around 500 kilos of high explosive fast enough, like how the car actually moved on Queens' Day. Not to mention 500 kg would be more than enough to vaporize everyone in a atleas 150 meter radius.
And where is joe shmoe without a job(and a serious case of social rage) gonna get half a ton of high explosive? This is still one of most safe countries in the world......

come on my friend
you are playing on the words here
500 kg is a kind of "image" as we say in French
i could have said 100-200 kg of nitro-chlorate or 3/4 can of gaz or a bunch of dynamite rods (the two first being easy to obtain, the third one a little more difficult but still can be stolen in demolition stockpiles as it is regularly done anywhere in Europe)
what if it was not "joe shmoe" but any kind of extremist (especially as the Ducth forces are engaged in Astan you can figure who ...... but not only, 30 years ago you had problems with Moluccan separatists, who knows who can use your country or country top authorities as symbolic targets ...)
the question remains : how to ensure proper safety of the Royal family while none impering their close relationship with the people .....
There is anoter woman died yesterdaynight,

There is some new information regarding the perpetrator, Karst T. that is being interpreted as signifiers of rightwing ideology.
He has a tatoo on his body of 'runes' commonly associated with 'rightwing groups'. According to the paper, De Telegraaf, these are the double Sig runes that the Schutzstaffel (SS) used as their insignia.
He also has a tattoo of an anchor.
This information comes from an anonymous source so I suggest waiting for more verifiable information to come out before conclusions are drawn.
There are already theories suggesting that he used the Suzuki Swift as his vehicle because of the SS. (oh really?) Also that his hair-style (Travis Bickle styled mohawk) and clothing style appear to be similar to how rightwingers dress.
Let's wait and see.

A bit late, but nevertheless watch what happened during Remembrance Day on Dam Square(which was by the way also affected, a lot less people were allowed on the square).

The Queen is a strong woman. She's lost her both her parents and her husband relatively short after each other(several years back now) and she still continues on...
