If anyone in the know knows, is the driver of an SP gun taken from transport corps, artillery corps or a tank/ armoured based corps?

I was Infantry in the seventies but I recall working with Abbott self propelled artillery crews in Germany and I'm sure the whole crew were Royal Artillery including the drivers.

All I know is, the driver(and all crew for that matter) of a self-propelled gun in the German army in ww2 was in the Artillery. (Red piping) You did have StuG's with a different gun in a tank hunting role though, these were in the Panzerjäger; Pink piping.

If you're on about current day, then all gun crew are Artillery badged. Drivers take their tracks license (Category H I think it is) before they are allowed to drive AS90.
I spend about 7 years as RA from 89 - 96 in an M109 regiment based in Germany. We had M109, Warrior, AFV432, Cymbeline all on tracks. We also had DROPS, but the FODEN version rather than the normal DAF(?) version of the logistics units due to the weight of ammo carried.
